On June 3, just a few weeks after the California Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, San Francisco Catholic Charities-CYO held its 2008 Red House Fundraiser.
[[SachetMiller062208.jpg]]According to the Catholic Charities-CYO web site, the annual event has been held since 2004. This years fundraiser, reports the site, was held in the heart of the Castro.
The co-chairs of the event and the honorary committee members were a Whos Who of same-sex marriage supporters.
They included:
Nanette Lee Miller, treasurer of CCCYO, who married another woman in 2004, yet still serves on CCCYOs board.
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who said of the courts decision: By the way, as California goes, so goes the rest of the nation this is the future and it is now.
San Francisco County Supervisor Bevan Dufty, who said: "I think it is a win for justice and a win for California and a win for the future.
Rebecca Rolph, executive director of the San Francisco LGBT Center, who said: "This is the best day of my professional life.
[[CahillDufty062208.jpg]]Donna Sachet, a transvestite and member of the board of Equality California, was also an honorary committee member, and was in attendance. Equality California was one of the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case that brought about legal same-sex marriage in California.
There is nothing hidden about any of this. The CCCYO web site has a picture of their executive director, Brian Cahill, posing with his arm around Supervisor Dufty. The site also has a picture of CCCYO treasurer Nanette Miller posing with Equality California board member Sachet.
We could say. Whats the big deal, they have the right to do this, except for one thing: the Archdiocese of San Francisco mandates that every one of its parishes hold a special annual second collection to support this organization.
In April, I said that the Archdiocese of San Francisco must either radically change CCCYO, or sever ties with the organization. Within two months of that writing, CCCYO has honored Mr. George Marcus and Levi Strauss Inc., both gigantic funders of the culture of death. It has hosted the event described above, which makes a mockery of Church teaching on marriage. Asking the parishioners to support CCCYO is to ask them to subsidize sin.
Yes my funny should have been EAST.
>Again, you are throwing the 34 MILLION people in CA and the over 300 MILLION people in America in the same basket with less than ten percent of the population who are Leftists.
I did not throw anybody anywhere. It is now the law of the land in California that word marriage has become perverted. Now how long will it take before the rest of the 49 states are required to accept the supreme ruling of the court of California????
Pelosi will be a mere asterisk in American politics in less than 10 years and while Liberals are aborting their offspring; conservatives in CA and across America are flourishing; so it's not a matter of if but "when" conservatives become the majority in CA and America.
Pelosi and her brood are NOT going anywhere, and while I was a Hunter supporter, he could NOT even get a seat at the high stakes political table. WHY not? If as you claim conservatives are on a come back? Seems to me the conservatives are politically speaking wandering out in the wilderness, and I view this more like the scenario that was set before Gideon.... Judges 2:1 And the LORD said unto Gideon, "The People that are with thee are too many for ME to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against ME, saying, 'Mine own hand hath *saved* me.
You might consider that some of us 'out-of-towners' know many people that live in California and some of us hear out of the mouths of these people that do live 'in-town' as to what their lives are like in your great state.
“Excuse me, but for the 1001th time, I wish you out-of-towners would cease putting everyone in CA in the same basket as the fraction & disgraceful who live in SF, Berkeley & Malibu, thank you.”
Sorry. Californication is the New Sodom and Gomorrah, regardless of the fact that a few moderate conservatives still manage to hang on there. Although thanks be to God I am now an “out of towner” I lived in the golden hell many years ago. The writing was on the wall even then.
You note that there are millions of practicing Catholics in California. Well, if what is practiced in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles can be termed “Catholicism”, then I guess you’re right. But I think “widespread apostacy” would be a more accurate term.
No, Californication deserves the double heaping of scorn that it receives and then some. As for those righteous few who remain in the state, I suggest that they take their lead from the story of Lot, and leave posthaste.
“You might consider that some of us ‘out-of-towners’ know ?”
Just because you might “know many people that live in California” doesn’t make you an “expert” on CA or even CA politics. LMAO
Quite the opposite, from your previous posts, you don’t know squat about what’s going on out here.
I suggest you stick to the problems of your own state and let those of us who live, work & pay taxes in CA deal with our own issues.
Good day.
And before I leave you to your CA bashing; this thread and article is about SF “Catholics” & the Catholic Church not Leftists in politics.
Cyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
Next time you post an article please clarify that experts only are allowed to comment. My big mistake and it will NOT happen again to your special posts.
What part of “quit bothering me” don’t you understand. LMAO
I do not agree with that statement. The church itself has condoned gay priests and looked the other way when they were molesting young boys. I have also heard too many liberal statements from the various popes. The catholic church is very liberal in big cities and certain countries. I think part of it is that they see the liberal government (welfare state, redistribution, etc.) as a means of taking care of their congregations.
I put the catholic church, jews, and blacks as a big part of the reason that the liberal democrats have as much power as they do.
I have for a long time referred to SF and LA as Sodomy and Glamorrah.
***This MUST be STOPPED!!! No more money to Catholic Charities!!!***
OH, c’mon! Damn the good as well as the evil?? Catholic Charities does tremendously good work. Address your complaints against the evil member, not the whole body.
I sure hope you have your 'expert' credentials certified.
Those of us who are practicing Catholics KNOW that the Church DID NOT “condone” gay priests...in fact, for decades psychologists & psychiatrists told the Church that priests who committed sexual crimes could be “cured” and it was only decades later that those same psychologists & psychiatrists informed the Church that those priests could NOT be “cured.”
As far as priests molesting boys, the FACT is that less than 7 percent of ALL the sexual attacks over the last 50 years were on prepubescent boys.
The MAJORITY were homosexual acts on teenagers.
But lets not let the facts get in the way of your Catholic bashing...you believe what you like, the folks over at the DU will be glad to join you.
Good day.

Oh, my gosh! I thought I was the only one who knew that. There was (before the liberals decided to attack the Catholic Church) a very definitive report in our local liberal newspaper saying that the psychologists and psychiatrists said those who molested children COULD be cured, and recommended such treatment to the church. Of course the libs promptly dumped the report when it suited their nefarious purpose of attacking the Church.
I don’t think this is a Catholic Charities problem. I jusut think the same-sex people are using this vehicle at the present time.
Notice that the fundraiser was for CYO? Catholic Youth Organization?? Or am I mistaken?
San Francisco needs a Burke or a Rigali.
Please, Pope Benedict!
Somehow that is better?
You are wrong on the Catholic Church. The reason everyone hates the Church (especially the media) is because the Catholic Church has stood for things such as
NO abortion
NO euthanasia
NO same-sex marriages — marriage only between a man and a woman
NO embryonic stem-cell research
And there are others.
The Catholics you are talking about have basically excommunicated themselves for supporting such issues. And unless they repent and reform — they may suffer the warning that Christ gives his disciples in today’s Gospel.
“Fear only God who can destroy your body and your soul in hell.” (Paraphrasing)
Are they using money raised in churches (mention is made of a forced second collection)?
If they are engaging in political advocacy, strip ALL of those churches that engaged in it of their 501c3 tax status.
Defund the left. Audit.
The ACLU cannot pick and choose which churches are allowed to engage in political advocacy.
You can spin it any way you like, but the Catholic church accepted gay priests into the church. That is condoning. You may want to break out a dictionary some time. Your church allows gays to be priests. What is it that you don't understand about that FACT.
“As far as priests molesting boys, the FACT is that less than 7 percent of ALL the sexual attacks over the last 50 years were on prepubescent boys.
The MAJORITY were homosexual acts on teenagers.”
The last time I looked teenagers were boys. Are you seriously saying that it is ok for your GAY priests to molest boys or that it was somehow less bad that molesting younger boys? You sound liberal to me.
I do not like the Catholic church because of their liberal politics (and yes the church leadership is liberal on a host of issues) and its gay priest policy. If that makes me a basher, then that is what I am.
