Kos is gloating over producing Barack Obamas birth certificate. First, generally vital statistical records are not available to anyone except the subject of the record unless they have signed a release (Im checking Hawaiis laws). Perhaps the Light Being gave him a copy, who knows. But the interesting thing about this certificate is the description for race on Obamas father, it lists him as African. In 1961 all Live Birth certificates contained the word Black, which is a race, not African.
Not that it cant be real, and I really dont care, but hey, this is Screw em Kos. Take a look.
Per lgf:
This is NOT a birth certificate, its a certification of live birth a slightly different thing.
And yes, the campaign did give it to Moulitsas for posting; he says so in the comments.
But I checked with the vital statistics registrar in Hawaii and the African nomenclature is incorrect. In 1961 it would have been black or even, negro.
Other abnormalities noted by Suitability Flip.
Based on this, as far as Im concerned the jurys still out.
It makes more sense for an Hawaiian clerk to write down "African" than to write down anything else, certainly not 1990's PC nonsense, and most likely not the name of a nonexistant country!
I should have added two qualifiers. In 1961, I should have said that someone filling in the term "probably" would have used the word Negro (or possibly colored) and "almost certainly would not" use the term black. The word black was considered an insul. It did become accepted until the late part of the decade.
In the case of Obama's father, who, after all, was not an American citizen, the use of African at the time seems far more believable that black.
My point was to correct the poster's flat statement that a form filler woudl have used the black in all cases. This was not true, certainly in 1961. Negro was the standard word.
Okay, I get it now. You are right. "Colored" was the accepted term till the mid sixties when "black" became the new term. Negro was probably used longer on official documents.
I had a black guy go off on me recently when I told him there were only four races. He asked me what race I thought he was and I said he was of the Negroid race. He went crazy.
He insists he's African-American even though he's never even BEEN to Africa. I hate that term. It puts African first and leads one to believe that all Africans are black.
I asked him what you call a white person born in Africa and he said, "A foreigner". There are people in the U.S. who truly believe the garbage that Wright was spouting.
That was essentially the claim that Senator Kerry's wife, Teresa, made at one point during the 2004 campaign. Didn't fly...especially with African-Americans.
I was talking about what would have been on a state form in Hawaii in 1961.
He said: The Sheriff is 'near'.
Is there anybody that doesn't get it yet?
'This election is not about race, dammit!'
I just love the dance moves, while everybody's prancing around - it's funny-as-hell ................. FRegards
Someone brought that up on the first thread. See post 158 and the post it is answering. Hope that helps.

Also, the way it is blacked out looks like it was done by a computer, doesn't it? The people in HI govt told one of the bloggers that they would never send a cert out that way.
I sincerely doubt it.
A candidate has to file a statement of candidacy. The govt probably accepts his word that he meets the requirements.
Have you ever applied for a professional license that asks if you have ever been in a psychiatric institution or some such thing? When you say no, the drones who process your application in most states don't check to confirm you are telling the truth. They take your word for it.
So let me get this straight. I can take the word of the people who work in the Hawaii Registrar's office as to what terms they used in 1961. Or I can rely on a dude who spent his life debating the fine points of the domestic mail manual.
Man, this is a tough call.
But, but, but....Obamer's mother had a different name than his father. What does that mean?
Another bastard dumped onto society.
I've said it before, but wonder what Clinton's birth certificate will reveal?
He is a disgrace to the whole country and thinks he is to good to critize. So, screw him.
Today's informants in the Hawaiian government were most likely children in 1961.
True. Even people who had such files may well have succeeded in having them removed, destroyed or lost.

Ooohh, you know, you are right. “South African” is a natinonality. Thank you for correcting me, and not in an ugly way as is the way of so many Freepers!
Uh, you do, of course, recall the Postal Service Manual don't you?
How about the Post Office Manual? Got a copy at home?
I thought so, all you know is the DMM, and you thought all I did was "debate the finer points" rather than write the FIRST ONE!
Yes, there really is an original DMM. I have the Federal Register at home in which it first appeared.
Now, absent some evidence that today's clerks and managers in Hawaii's birth registration organization have determined what the rules were in 1961, I probably wouldn't accept their word for it.
