What women really want: a touch on the arm

Scientists have come up with a winning formula for men wishing to seduce women, and it has nothing to do with cheesy chat-up lines or good looks. Research shows that a man can significantly increase his pulling power by simply catching a woman's eye and lightly touching her arm.

A study at Aberdeen University found that two-thirds of women agreed to dance with a man who rested his hand on her arm for a second or two while making the request.

When the man kept his hands by his side as he asked the same question, his success rate fell by half.

Women were also more likely to give their phone-number to a man who touched their arm as he approached them in the street.

The study, published in Focus Magazine, suggested that touching makes a man appear dominant, and therefore more attractive to the opposite sex.

If you can pull off the right balance of relaxed, confident, friendly yet blatantly uninterested — almost can’t go wrong with that approach. :)

Old news. Written long ago by I.Levin & M.Shafer

He touched me,
He put his hand near mine
And then he touched me
I felt a sudden tingle when he touched me
A sparkle, a glow
He knew it...
It wasn’t accidental, no,
He knew it
He smiled and seem to tell me so all through it
He knew it, I know...
He’s real, and the world is alive and shining
I feel such a wonderful drive toward valentining
He touched me, I simply have to face the fact
He touched me...
Control myself and try to act
As if I remember my name
But he touched me...
He touched me...
And suddenly nothing is the same!
‘Cause he touched me...
He touched me...
And suddenly... nothing, nothing, nothing is the same!

Men who find it hard to fake a smile could try taking better care of their skin, or surrounding themselves with other women to appear more appealing, he said.

Also probably the reason you’ve escaped STDs and creepy guys and single motherhood. Good for you for having basic standards for guys.

Touching on the arm can be culturally awkward, whereas introducing yourself with a firm handshake, a warm smile and deep eye contact can have the same effect without the creepiness factor.

As for the handshake: firm, but don’t squeeze tight enough to even approach discomfort, and continue the handshake a bit longer than a normal one. Not so long as to cause anxiety, but long enough to indicate that you are assertive and enjoy touching the woman.

Women do respond to confident, assertive men, as long as they don’t overdo it.

Caveat: I haven’t actually practiced my art on anyone other than Mrs. Chandler for 33 years.

Strange...

Good grooming is primary. As for "faking" a smile, why wouldn't a man smile naturally when talking to a woman he is interested in?
