FROM EMAIL from Doug Lyvere, Eagles Up --
...Code Pink is on the ropes. The Marines have been welcomed by the Chamber of Commerce. More people, civilian's and businesses, have started showing their support for Veteran's. Everyone's efforts have started to pay off. Everyone should be proud. So this time we're going to do it a little differently.
Last time we designated Berkeley a "No spend zone". Some said this had zero impact. I disagree - we made a point and whether or not a negative financial impact was felt, we got a response. This time, I think we should spend money - at every establishment that has two things displayed in their window - 1, an American Flag. 2, a sign that simply says, "We Support the Troops". Very few of the businesses would put up these two items just for the dollar. The bulk, I'd say at least 99%, would mean it. If you know a business that supports the troops, call them and tell them to get their sign and flag up now. Starting tomorrow, various Riders will be driving thru Berkeley looking for these signs. I will TRY and make a list to hand out Saturday AM but it should not be necessary as if the display is prominent, we should spot them immediately. And, we would like everyone to spend at least one $2.00 bill. They're rare enough to make a point. Any and every business that gets at least one of these, will know that the Veteran's are giving back, again. Make a point, also, of telling every business owner or manager, thank you for their support. If you're not sure if they Support the Troops, ask. If they say no, politely leave without any negative comments. Even if you're not planning on spending any money in a business, at least take the time to say thank you. I have no idea how many businesses will have a signs/flags up, or how many we can demonstrate our appreciation to, but try to spread it around if necessary. If there are only a few, GTG, line up outside their doors to show the appreciation.
Some of us are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Emeryville Friday nite and going to breakfast at 6:30 Saturday morning. If you want to socialize and/or volunteer your services, please either be there Friday nite or early Saturday....
Since we've made zero changes since the original email, I'm just doing a cut and paste of the flyer. If you're unclear and need a copy of the original email me, drop me a note and I'll get it out to you. Also, please remember, this is a Support the Troops event - invite anyone and everyone. This is the final push - spread the word!! The men and woman of our armed forces deployed around the world will see this event. Let's show them all how we feel!!

If I could only get Gore to loan me the Gulfstream for the weekend...
We should sell “Knucklehead Credits.” When you counter Knuckleheads like Code Pink, you can sell Al Gore a credit so he can say something as stupid and anti-America with a clear conscience. After all, for everything like that he’s said, at least he’s paid someone else to be patriotic.

Well, dang! If Mr. "Hell on Wheels" himself is gonna be there then I guess I'll head on over too!
Here's their new tourism slogan:
"Berkeley: Now with fewer tree hippies!"
BOYCOTT BERKELEY bump!
Grate! See you there!
Jim
WOO-HOO!
I can’t be there in person, but I will send my prayers with all who ride and/or take part in any other way.
As I continue to pray for the courage and bravery of our troops, those who are left behind, and the efforts of all who so willingly support them in whatever manner, I will ask a special blessing on the Recruiters in Berkeley, that they will feel the support of all patriotic Americans.
Since I’m a military widow (30 years as a military wife) with both children who served proudly, and (at last count) two grandsons on active duty, I know how important it is to make our troops proud of who they are and where they come from.
Thanks for the ping!

God bless you all. Thank you!
It’s a Selective Boycott this time, look for pro-USA businesses and support them.
Details are in the email text posted above.
THANKS so much for your efforts, as always.

I miss out on all the fun! God Bless everyone, I’m sure it’s going to be an excellent time. Melanie Morgan and Eagle’s Up Rock!
And God Bless the United States Marine Corps and every Marine who has ever served. Your service is never forgotten or taken for granted.
I didn't hear the other women. (OK, I confess, I listen to NPR in the AM), but I'm sure Melanie earned a lot more, due in part to her celebrity status. In a sense she priced herself out of the market, and got outsourced to a cheaper version of herself.
Those that are going to be there, see you soon.
I would ride along from Emeryville but the Harley turned into an off road machine, and is in the shop.
Marines come in all shapes, shades, weights, sizes and states of sobriety, misery, and confusion. A Marines is as sly as a fox, has the nerve of a dope addict, the stories of an old sailor, the sincerity of a politician and the subtly of Mt. Saint Helens. They are extremely irresistible, totally irrational and completely indestructible. A Marine is a Marine all their life. They're a magical creature. You can kick a Marine out of your house, but not out of your heart. You can take them off your mailing list, but not off your mind. They are found everywhere. In love, in battle, in lust, in trouble, in debt, in bars... and behind them. No one can write so seldom and yet think so much of you. No one else can get so much enjoyment out of a letter or clean clothes or a six pack. A Marine is a genius with a deck of cards. A millionaire without a cent and brave without a grain of sense. They are the PROTECTORS OF AMERICA, with the latest copy of Playboy/Playgirl in their back pocket. When they want something it's usually 30 days leave, music that hurts the ears, a five dollar bill or someone they can count on. The other branches envy them, mothers tolerate them, fathers brag about them, the government pays them, the police watch out for them and somehow they all work together. You can beat their bodies but not their minds. You can tame their hearts but not their souls. They love the opposite sex! A Marine dislikes small checks, working weekends, answering letters, missing chow, waking up, maintaining a uniform and the day before payday. You may as well give in. They are your long distance lover. They are your steel eyed, warm smiling, blank minded, hyperactive, over reacting, curious, passive, talented, spontaneous, physically fit, good for nothing bundle of worry... and will always be there for you regardless of how long it's been since you've last talked. -Unknown
