On Wednesday, the buzz was that the Democrats came out for nationalization of the oil industry and refineries. There were clips of a congressman making the declaration. It was plain, unambiguous talk. That is important, because he did not botch the job like Maxine Waters who earlier got so nervous she couldnt come up with the word and blurted socialize instead of nationalize.
So there we have it. The American liberals are in fact socialists. They cant hide behind their favorite euphemism progressive. Nationalization is not progressiveism, it is pure ol Hugo Chavez Socialism. Capitalist business is bad, government ownership and control is good.
The whole thing makes one wonder about the course of future endeavors. If nationalizing oil by complete take over or on the cheap by confiscating the profits, what of other energy sources? Specifically, what about coal?
That is a good question for a Congressman owned by the coal industry. There is just such a man. There is Rick Boucher of the 9th district of Virginia. He represents the coal mining industry in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. He is a Democrat.
Calls were made to his offices in Abington and in Washington. The question was asked Does Rep Boucher support the party position and nationalization of the oil industry? and then after learning that an answer was not really available, the question was revised, Does Representative Boucher support nationalization of the other major energy industry, coal?
No answers were given to these very important issues but the person on the phone assured the Congressman will get back to you on this
If oil? why not coal?

Well, look at it this way, at least for the first time in my memory, the Commies have the courage to step from behind the label of “Democrat” or “Progressive”. I’ve been waiting for them to show the courage of their convictions. Oil? Coal? Airlines? Why not? They’ve already got the schools where they turn out little “Red shirt” kids.
BUT, the one thing they’ve not yet gotten a grip on? The military!
“If oil and coal? Why not donuts?”
$40 for a dozen Krispy Kremes? Decisions, decisions. :-)
I can't wait to see what Boucher's office finally has to say about this apparent contradiction between his implict support for the Rat position and the economic well-being, based heavily on a revived coal industry, of his 9th District constituents in Southwest Virginia.
He's already in big trouble there because of his early support of Obama, when his district's Democrats voted 90% in favor of Hillary during Virginia's primary.
Gov Hickel of Alaska has emerged yet again into our view with the proposal that Alaska itself should build the Natural Gas Pipeline. This is nominally the Republicans, call them the Nationalists, but it is the Sarah Palin ‘give every PFD recipient $100 additional a month to pay for fuel costs’ Socialist wing that is in power. Do not confuse these Republican wings with he Gov Murkowski Capitalists. If you want to find Conservatives, even though Joe is dead, you can still contact the AIP. Democrats are mostly irrelevant on levels of Gov’t above City Council and some Republicans remain unindicted.
It’s not just oil, and it’s not just coal. It’s all energy. They have de-facto nationalization of wind and solar by the huge subsidies that allow that industry to exist (they’re money-losers without the subsidies). And ethanol exists SOLELY at the whim of the Federal Government.
This is about the total communisation of the US. The Federal Government is already 21% of the total economy ($3.2 trillion of $15 trillion). If Obama wins, you know that healthcare is a given - it will be nationalized! And that is another 15% of the economy.
Now you see the next target, the brass ring: energy. Not only does energy enable our society (what do you do without energy sources - regulating that source is regulating life), but it’s another 15% of our economy.
Add it up: 21% currently, 15% for healthcare, 15% for energy. We get 51% - the Federal Government will be in DIRECT control of 1 of every 2 dollars spent. At that point our economy IS nationalized - the whole thing. We’re a communist nation, and the Federal Government at its whim can completely change the direction of any facet of life.
Allow Obama the Presidency and this is guaranteed. The filibuster? It’ll be voted down - it’s a rule of the Senate, not a Constitutional requirement. The Donks will have complete control of Congress and the Executive branch. And will nationalize the entire economy.
Obama must be stopped no matter what.
.....Obama must be stopped no matter what....
No matter what? If you read the posts of others here, “what” is zealot principle. They don’t give a damn about Obama if their principles are at stake.
The points you make need to be strongly presented by the Republicans. The proposed tax on profits is nationalization. You spend your money on production and overhead and the profits from those efforts is confiscated. The profit is taken for “redistribution and the common good”.
Nationalize education, nationalize retirement pensions, nationalize retirement healthcare, nationalize general healthcare, nationalize energy. Kinda all leads in the same, general, direction doesn’t it?
anyone got a link to the video?
I agree... Those "radical conservatives" who will forgo the Republic in the name of their "principles". Look folks, the time to bring back Conservatism is NOW, but that does NOT mean becoming communist! No, it means starting to work NOW to build up a viable conservative candidate for 2012. The next election began the day McCain won enough delegates.
These "my way or the highway!" types are going to throw not just the baby, but the mother, the father, and the siblings out with the bathwater, and force the locks to be changed too... Seriously, if the Democrats get the Presidency, then the Communist vision for America runs rampant. We are talking a complete takeover of the economy. And then it is quite easy to take over the "votes".
Too many scream about the Bill of Rights, and our inalienable rights from the Creator. The issue is that ALL those rights rest on one foundation - economic liberty. Without economic liberty, can a man afford to press his own writings? Can a man afford to purchase firearms? Can a man HAVE a house and papers to be secured against Government intrusion?
No, the fundamental bedrock of this Nation and the freedoms we enjoy is economic freedom. THAT is what makes us great, and that is what will keep us great. This Nation was founded as a revolt over taxation; economic freedom is WHY the founders started this great land!
But all that is in jeopardy - SERIOUS jeopardy - if Obama wins. We already know the Democrats will nationalize healthcare - the writing is on the wall, no one on the Democrat side has NOT called for it. It's a universal truth of the Left.
Now we see the clarion call of nationalization applied to energy. Not just a major sector of our economy, but the one thing that ENABLES our economy. The ONLY thing that you can do without purchasing energy is to let your grass grow!
Think about it, folks. Food, clothing, shelter, transportation, communication. All rely upon energy. With the power to regulate energy is the power to regulate - de facto - the economy. Pure and simple.
Consider also that the current US Federal Budget is 21% of our GDP - $3.2 trillion of $15 trillion. The Government directly accounts for 1 of every 5 dollars spent.
Now add in nationalization of healthcare - which WILL happen. That's another 15%. And now add in the nationalization of energy, as we're seeing now brazenly put forth by the political Left. That's another 15% of our GDP. We're talking 51% of the GDP being DIRECT spending and controlled by the Federal Government.
Think about that: the Federal Government - namely, unelected bureaucrats - would control one of every two dollars spent in our nation. They would have a complete control of the nation from the Federal level, simply by the purse strings held so tight. And do not forget that the Federal Goverment would have the power to decide what you can do today (via regulation of energy - remember the gas lines in the 70s), or who gets to live and die (via healthcare).
But you know what? We'll still get those "radical conservatives" here who will whine about McCain being soft on this issue, or wrong on that one. And ignore the 80% he's right on, and the big goose-egg Obama puts up!
At least they can cling to their "principles" as we shuffle through the breadlines, comrade!
If only they would remember the words of President Ronald Reagan:
When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it.
"Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don't get it all, some said, don't take anything.
I'd learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: 'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.'
If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.
Alas, I fear this will fall on deaf ears. Children and their tantrums, after all...
Is there anyone running for his seat this year? I haven’t heard of anyone running, but the 9th district Republicans are screwed up right now.
Not that I know of, but you’re right in the 9th District local GOP is riven by infighting. I know a couple of good people who would make excellent Congressmen, but I doubt that they could get through their internal party selection process, which is dominated by corrupted good ol’ boys.
Once they start there will be no stopping them. America will be over as we know it.
Amen Brother.....
