A 19-year-old man accidentally shot and killed himself Tuesday morning while he was attempting to rob a Grand Prairie home, authorities said.
Cameron Sands, 19, of Fort Worth kicked in the door of the house and then shot himself in the stomach as he pulled a gun out of his pants to shoot the homeowner, Grand Prairie police said. The homeowner was not injured.

Ah Shoot. The democrats just got another voter for November and beyond.
Makes you wonder how anxious you’d be to call 911 in this situation. I might have to make a sandwich and ponder it some first.
This homeowner stays “locked and cocked” ... intruder comes univited into my domicile will be in for a rude awakening ...
Notice ... he broke in ... he HAD a fire arm. Not too much being said about the fortuitous events for the homeowner. He was one step from being dead had it been a burglar with even a bit of “ability”
He didn’t just shoot himself, get GUT shot himself.
That’s a painful way to go.
Maybe there is some justice in the world.
Aw, now that’s just cold blooded! :)
Well, he sure had the stomach for it beforehand.
I’m not sure where the word “get” came from. It should have been “he GUT shot himself”.
Oh well...
May I make a couple of additions to your reply?
Imagine being the homeowner. Shock, fear, bewilderment, relief and joy all in a few confusing moments.
This guys intelligence was already known when you realize that he thought there was a house in Grand Prairie that was worth robbing.........
I'm glad you did. Now the list is complete. :-)
You expressed my thoughts precisely
For a few months in the 70s I lived in Grand Prarie and worked hauling art to the very wealthy and elite of Dallas...My days were pschyzo....Dallas people (especially women)were perfect ...the Grand Prarie people(as they staggered around in the heat)had either too many limbs or not enough
That must have been a rough couple of years....
I DO so love a happy ending :~)
He should have stuck to soccer sports with focus toward his future.
Cheers!
He was stupid and deviant enough to infringe on someone's property so he very well was stupid enough to tote the likes of a trigger safety weapon without proper knowledge of "cocked and locked" via experience and forethought. /snicker
Thats a painful way to go.
I hope the homeowner had the presence of mind to to take his time and get everything right in calling the police.
"Now lets see here, a second ago you were trying to kill me, and now you want me to call for help for you? Well, right after I get a few rags and arrange them under your body so you won't bleed on my floor.
OK, that's done, now where did I leave that telephone? I guess I should start looking for it. I'll begin up in the attic. Oh, you seem to be moaning in pain. That ladder up to the attic is not very safe, hold on while I go get another one...
Now that I have the phone, what was that emergency number? I know it had nines and ones. Lets try 1-1-9. Nope, we'll wait a minute and try 9-1-9. That didn't work either. How about 9-9-1, but before I call, how is that bleeding coming along? "
Somehow I don't see this kid as having been a part of a team sport unless it was gang related. It's really too bad this sort of justice doesn't happen to all those who would chose crime as a way of life.
Yes I know but it was pithy.
