Republican Huckabee says don't denigrate Obama (Republicans should celebrate historic moment)

TOKYO (AFP) - Former US presidential contender Mike Huckabee urged his fellow Republicans on Wednesday not to denigrate Democrat Barack Obama, saying they should celebrate the historic moment of a black candidate.

"Republicans will make a fundamental if not fatal mistake if they seek to win the election by demonising Barack Obama," Huckabee told a news conference on a visit to Tokyo.

The former Arkansas governor said that, having grown up in the segregated South, he never thought he would see an African-American win the nomination of a major party for the US presidency.

"I do not want to have anyone misrepresent or miss the opportunity to celebrate what I think is a landmark achievement, not just for Barack Obama, but for the United States of America," he said.

The country was able "to get to a point where we did not see his colour but we truly saw his charisma, his message and what he brought to the campaign trail," Huckabee said.

From Tokyo, no less.

Maybe on Nov. 5th, Mike, you can celebrate all you want then.

So much for judging a man by the content of his character.

Its the color of his skin that matters most.

::::::
Hey, Huck, you are a bit LATE with your political pandering. Obama has already demonised himself. He has made no bones about who and what he is...as well as others who have dug up the other scandals and crime he has surrounded himself with.

Too late Huck...your pandering is obvious...we know who and what Obama is. Plain and simple.

Huck should take a running jump at a rolling donut.

Well, what do you expect? The real reason to denigrate Obama is that he’s a socialist. Huckabee being one as well sees nothing wrong with that.

Am I living in some alternate universe or something? It used to be that republicans supported and encouraged REPUBLICAN candidates, not democratic ones.

“Denigrate” was an interesting choice of words. Huckabee is obviously “playing the game”.

Huckleberry is so full of it he must have brown eyes.

He should just shut up and go back to writing his memoir, “I Coulda Been a Contender”...

I agree with Mike. I actually think this is a moment worth noting. A country that had segregation as near as 50 years ago, has nominated a black man for the highest office in the country. We’ve come a long way in a short time, and our greatness as a free nation is obvious in that anyone can experience the American Dream.

Obama’s success confirms American exceptionalism that liberals argue doesn’t exist. As much as radical feminists and racial activists try to convince us otherwise — this country is simply the greatest place on earth to be a female or a member of a racial or religious minority.

We are not a racist or sexist country, and it is essential that conservatives take this opportunity to argue with those that have been dragging our name through the mud.

Obama has ALREADY gotten a free ride from society....

Now IS the time that he must be called to task for his totally Un-American, racist and Marxist views — and his radically focused selection of friends and goals.

Affirmative Action does NOT apply to the Presidency.

Lord know we already have enough under performers, under achievers and totally corrupt immoral folks in politics due to voting on the basis of skin color by voters of darker skin color or white guilt.

The country was able "to get to a point where we did not see his colour but we truly saw his charisma, his message and what he brought to the campaign trail," Huckabee said.

Huckabee is a sanctimonious, self-important fool. What he says here is precisely what did not happen. If Obambi was white he'd be just another junior Senator rather than the Apostle of Hope.
