CAMP PENDLETON ---- A military judge has dismissed charges against a Marine officer accused of failing to investigate the killings of 24 Iraqis.
Col. Steven Folsom dismissed charges Tuesday against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani after defense attorneys raised concerns that a four-star general overseeing the prosecution was improperly influenced by an investigator probing the November 2005 shootings by a Marine squad in Haditha.
The charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning they can be refiled, but Folsom excluded Marine Forces Central Command from future involvement.
Chessani was the highest-ranking officer implicated in the case.
‘Nite, xzins. I think we’ve put enough desert spam on this thread for one night!
Maybe you should use your shop vac on them like you do the dandelions.
Bump for some wonderful news!!!!!!!!!
Many of the Haditha Marines were originally charged with murder and various other charges that would have handed down prison terms and dishonorable discharges. Why in hell would anyone give a rat's rear about a journalist investigating? I wouldn't trust them much more than I trust the NCIS at this point! Unless of course Red would like to accept the mission.
I'm of the opinion that if they want to prolong and pursue this atrocity, bring it on! Send in a forensics team, dig up the bodies, study all the UAV videos and diagrams that RedRover has already posted and try to find that little terrorist "human rights" worker. IIRC, he had been imprisoned a couple of times by the USMC for terrorist activity. He had an agenda when it came to our Marines. Send him to some dark hole (out of McCain's sight) and waterboard the b-turd and let's get the whole story.
After that, go after McJerk, Time Ragazine and al-Murthawi. Try them for treason and hang the traitors! Any journalist would already be biased after two years of this crap being blasted around the world. Want to know why we are still in Iraq? This is why!
Sorry if this seems harsh...I'm not yelling AT you. This thread began as a celebration in honor of Lt. Col. Chessani. Then came all the ideas that the stinking prosecution may want to start all over again and destroyed the ambiance. No ill meant toward you.
Wow! Yes I did! Can't this column be posted here? She makes some outstanding points! <
G'night...sleep smoothly. ;*)
My sentiments exactly. We could never trust journalists or NCIS to honestly pursue the truth, in which case why bother?
Let these men move on with their lives. They earned it.
Great post Justa!
Excellent!!
I was VERY happy when I heard this news today!
Great graphic. :^D
Justice is Good.
He even looks like a weasel. **shudder**
Thanks Pink! And now I must bid you goodnight! ;*)
Amen to that! Great post, Brit.
It would be great to meet these men some day, maybe some of their family, and you guys too. Not with fanfare, but fine handshakes and hearty hellos.
Before that day though, we still stand in hope and support for the exoneration of S/Sgt Wuterich and his family. God's best on them.
I’ll second that motion.
Bingo. If he’s not at 20, he’s got to be close. Good advice.
While I like Malkin’s article, there’s really nothing new in it. If you’d been keeping up with FR & Defend our Marines, that entire article was all old stuff. Hats off to the solid crew at Defendour Marines, Thomas More, Free Republic, etc.
I remember early on when even the conservative media wouldn’t touch the Haditha Marines. They were waiting for a trend, they had their fingers in the wind, and they weren’t gonna speak until they knew which way it was blowing.
That’s the truth and I’m sticking by it.
Defend our Marines, Thomas More, Nat Helms, Phil Brennan, and the lawyers of the other falsely accused Haditha warriors are the real heroes here.
Lt Cols don’t necessarily become generals, but this nation has thrown away an extremely rare commodity, a warrior who stands and fights with brains and ability.
All because of some dime-a-dozen phony politicians.
I don't think this is the real line of command influence anyway. The real line of UCI, I think is from Murtha, head of appropriations, through that never served a day in uniform pork seeing suit of an ex-Northrop executive secretary of the navy Winters to the MC generals who knew what they had to do to keep Winters happy and get their money from Murtha. It is simple, straightforward and clear.
BTW Winters is also the principle causative factor in the government losing the Guantanamo suit. And it was exactly the same behavior - putting his very heavy thumb on the scales of justice.
The guy needs to resign effective the start date of his current appointment. How does Bush find suits like this one?
It's an anatomical thing.
