Don't blame sexism for Hillary Clinton's defeat
Slate ^ | 6/16/08 | Christopher Hitchens

Posted on 06/16/2008 2:07:30 PM PDT by Luke21

Posterity may well remember the Hillary Clinton campaign as the nearest that a member of the female gender had thus far gotten to the nomination of a major political party. But the episode will be recalled for many other salient features as well. The first time that the wife of an ex-president had leveraged her first-lady status into a senatorial seat and then a bid for the presidency.

Hitchens on track as usual. He loathes the Clintons and blasts apart their constant yammering about victimhood.

The MSM treated the Clintons the same way the MSM treats the Republican Party.

Let’s face it....The Dems don’t have a PRESIDENTIAL candidate....Just two communists selling their wares.

“The Dems don’t have a PRESIDENTIAL candidate....Just two communists selling their wares.”

And you forgot to mention the democrat infiltrator into the spineless party.

Read the fawning and gushing over Hillary anywhere you look in today's papers. Most of it is unreadable. Just pick a site and an article in the mainstream press and read the gushing about Evita. She was given great press, just not as good as Obama’s. They love her, just not as much as the black guy.

Most of the Clinton victimhood claims result from the media trying to get her out of the race and saying it was over. Rarely did they mention the Clinton scandals of the last twenty years. If it had been a Republican candidate, every scandal, every detail, every individual would have been shouted from the rooftops for 24 hours a day. Her Bobby Kennedy comment would have made headlines for a month, not four days. That's how Republicans are treated.

Hitchens is the first one to bring out Hill's use of the “southern strategy,” which is a liberal bugaboo. The press tiptoed around that. The Clintons are the most wicked family ever foisted on this republic. They just never saw an incompetent, left wing goofball beating them.

It’s not sexism. A _itch is a _itch. Plain and simple.

The simple fact is had The Magic Mulatto not been a candidate the MSM would have been in lockstep behind Hillzilla’s candidacy, and would have carried her water just as it did for her alleged husband during his presidency. With political correctness, race trumps gender every time.

The range from guffaw to snigger or giggle is huge, and some of it will imply "male," just as some of it will imply "schoolboy" or, as the case may be, "schoolgirl." So what?

One actually does more imagine a male than a female "sniggering" but I somehow doubt that verb is ever likely to be used in conjunction with Mr. Obama...

But I think I see the emerging pattern. People who favor Sen. Clinton are allowed to stress her...sex at all times and to make a gigantic point of it for its own sake. They are even allowed to proclaim that she should be the president of the United States in time of war only because she would be the first vagina-possessing person to hold the job. But—and here's the catch—people who do not favor her are not even allowed to allude to the fact that she is female and has feminine characteristics.

Race works the same way, and for the same reason - for a liberal, membership in a formally and officially oppressed group can only confer moral rectitude, never the opposite. To deny this is to suggest that there is a single set of standards that ought to apply to all. That point of view is quite simply not progressive enough to be considered.

She could have carpet-bagged her way back to Illinois and taken Barry's senate seat in a heartbeat. She blew it. The senate seat would have been easier to win since there wasn't an Illinois version of Rick Lazio. Too bad, so sad, good riddance! Now just GO AWAY!

A woman can be elected President, but a Bitch can’t When she declared to run 51% of America disliked her. Her defeat wasn’t news, but the empty suit that beat her is.
