Highly Taxed and Fed Up, Rebels Wont Just Eat Cake
By JOSEPH BERGER
GREENBURGH
THE revolution has begun.
On June 2 remember that date; you may someday celebrate it with fireworks and barbecues 70 sons and daughters of Westchester gathered in Town Hall here to overthrow the county government.
These Minutemen wannabes were not violent sorts, broke no laws we know of. The most aggressive thing they did was come up with a funny name for a Web site they plan to create: Wastechester.org.
But make no bones about it: They did vigorously and harmoniously call for the abolition of county government. One man in the crowd even shouted like Peter Finch in Network: We cant take it anymore! Others denounced the county government as extravagant, duplicative and riddled with patronage and boondoggles.
Two hundred and thirty years ago, the country went to war over taxation without representation, declared Sherwood Chorost, a former trustee of Tarrytown. Now the phrase is overtaxation with overrepresentation.

Ping!
Would that such a wonderful thing would occur in Westchester’s sister county, Montgomery in Maryland. But that will never happen. There are only three surviving conservatives here in MoCo.
We need a nationwide revolution. Our government is corrupt from the city government to the federal government! It's time we hang the traitors!
I agree, not much faith in even my elected officals... locally..
It’s coming soon, my FRiend. Keep your powder dry.
These gas prices ae starting to push people over the edge. Good.
About ten years ago the government of Middlesex County, Massachusetts was dissolved when it went into bankruptcy. Its functions were taken over by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The government of Middlesex County was older than the government of the United States, as indeed, is the Government of Massachusetts.
While state government is no model of efficiency, there is now one less layer of parasites.
And the tar and feathers nearby - rats with wings! What a sight to see...
It’s about time!
TERM LIMITS!
Wasn’t it Thomas Jefferson that said we would need a revolution every now and then? We are way overdue for one!!! Something needed to kick us to this point ... who would have guessed gas prices? I’m ready to fight!!
Meanwhile, we have joint statements out of this administration, Secretary Bodman and Agriculture Secretary Schafer letter on biofuels, defending the governments pork for ADM for corn for ethanol program as being just what the doctor ordered. Not nukes, not more drilling, but hold steady on the present course.
Are these guys this corrupt or just this plain stupid.
Before entering public life, Schafer was an executive with the Gold Seal Company in Bismarck, a successful marketer of nationally-known consumer products such as "Mr. Bubble" bubble bath - bio here

Tea time?
With Obama in the White House, Democrats holding Congress, and a bunch of idiots in the Supreme Court, we’re really not going to have much of a choice if we want to halt this country’s march towards Marxism.
Even if McCain and the Republicans win in November, it’s going to have to happen sooner or later. This picking the “lesser of two evils” nonsense every election year is getting tiresome and is certainly not democratic, as the “lesser of two evils” never truly represents those of us whom are taxed.
Which leads me to my next point... No taxation without representation!
“Wasnt it Thomas Jefferson that said we would need a revolution every now and then?”
Yes, it was. Below is his full quote.....
“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if it’s rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
Thomas Jefferson.
The problem with ‘revolution’ in this day and age is the requirement of lots of speech-making, marching and flag-waving but no real effort to secure a better form of government. For years we’ve been told that freedom isn’t free, yet (with the exception of a very few) no one wants to pay face-value for it. So people demonstrate - when and where the government will let them - as a sort of down payment on the freedom they need and want. Then, instead of coming back with pitchforks, ropes, tar and feathers to pay the balance they have the wife rub a bit of lotion on the shoulder they wrenched patting themselves on the back and go back to watching the game.
If we ever have a revolution it will have to be fought by those who have lost their homes, jobs, families and any confidence that the “system” will take care of them. That first American revolution was accomplished by people who were fed up with the system they had and wanted to abolish it. They reasoned that war, however bad it might be, would be over in a few years while the oppression they were living under showed no sign of easing. Until Americans once again understand that they will gradually sink deeper and deeper into a socialistic swamp until they drown.
Its about time!
(Romanian) TERM LIMITS!
There, fixed it.
Ask my Dad why he moved to Florida, and this is the answer you always get, “Damn taxes in Westchester were killing me!”
I say “No representation without taxation!” You only get to vote if you actually pay taxes...
Good idea, but I’ll go one step further...you don’t get to vote to increase property taxes unless you’re a property owner. There was logic in how the founders intitially set up voting for property owners only.
Also, If you cannot prove your identity, you don’t get to vote. The rolls should be completely purged and everyone would have to re-register. Only those who can provide verification of identity get to even see a ballot. No more illegal alien, dead, double voting, or “provisional ballots” for DUmocrats.
