Rush Limbaugh Statement on Tim Russert's Death
Rush Limbaugh website ^ | June 13, 2008 | rush limbaugh

"It's just a shame. Tim was a regular guy with that perpetual smile he wore naturally all the time. He loved life and got everything he could out of it. Whether it was at dinner here in Florida while his son was taking golf lessons, or on the set of Meet The Press, Tim was always the same with me: genuine. He never condescended to anyone and was the consummate professional. He will be hard to replace. He was the closest thing there was at any of the networks to an objective journalist."

>>>>>Nothing to quiz when it was so simple to comprehend.

An attack on the Reagan legacy, is an attack on conservatism. If you want to defend that, go for it.

I feel about Rush the way I felt about Reagan. For Reagan, we attempted to view him when he was lying in state at his ranch. We drove up at midnight from L.A. so that the crowds might be smaller. I took my oldest son, then about 12.

We were waiting in line ON the freeway for hours. It was an empty freeway but the right “exit” lane was lined up for miles. We were listening to a night shift talk show being broadcast live from the Reagan Library. We knew that once we made it off the freeway, the line would go into the parking lot, at which point we would wait in line for the buses that were taking mourners up to the ranch. Then we would wait in a long, slowly moving line to file past his coffin.

At 5:30 we were finally getting off the freeway at the exit. Sadly, we couldn’t stay in line any longer. We had to turn around and head back for home so that my husband could go to work (the babies were still asleep at home). We got back on the freeway going in the opposite way.

As we drove away, we were stunned by the miles and miles of cars in the line. It went almost the width of the Valley. It moved me more than just about anything else ever has, in true tribute.

These were people who waited ALL NIGHT LONG. Not for great concert tickets or the newest game console. Heck, they were not even serving snacks. These people were waiting unbidden simply for the honor of being able to walk past a coffin of someone they believed in. These people were spending their entire night’s sleep in order to pay tribute to President Reagan. And this went on for many days in both locations.

I’d do anything to pay tribute to Rush as well, and I know I am not alone, though I hope he manages to live to 120. We need him. There is no substitute.

It was Ronald Reagan who was the Father of modern conservatism. Not Rush Limbaugh.

Look, man.. anything can seem like anything in Oxycontin.

So chill!

What strikes me most vividly: You have such an un-Reagan like manner in which to defend perceived attacks on Ronald Reagan's legacy.

Again, this has been fun but I have no interest in getting into a flame war with you. Later.

RIP Tim Russert.

He was the best at what he did, and I’ll miss watching his interviews. Russert was one of the few in DC media circles that would give no one a ‘softball game’ type interview.

LOL Hey, you entered into this debate, I didn’t invite you. Most hit and run posters like yourself, always seem to have perception of events that are off the wall. So be it.

If you don’t like the way I defend Reagan, stay away from my posts.

When the news about President Reagan's death broke I, like most other Americans began watching the media coverage. I got the distinct impression, initially, that the MSM and various commentators were just "itching" to tear into him, and to deconstruct and rewrite the history of his career and life.

Just as they were working themselves up to full pompous pontification mode, however, they saw something which frightened them: literally millions of ordinary Americans, of all ages, groups, etc., took a deliberate pause from their regular lives to pay tribute and homage to a great and beloved man.

As much as the MSM et al. hated Reagan and as much as they desired to rewrite history and tear down his memory, I believe they saw and instinctively understood that the American people in this instance would not have stood for it, and would have punished them badly for it.

I truly believe that the sight of those millions of ordinary people giving such extraordinary homage and honor to a man the elites hated literally shook them to their core, and cowed them into acceptably polite behavior.

And the biggest influence on WFB was Robert Taft. The latter doesn’t get mentioned enough.

  Rush will have it worse.

I doubt Rush gives a crap how the MSM and libs will react to his eventual death.

I think you are absolutely right.

For too long, the mainstream media believes its own propaganda. I am so glad that we Americans can stand up and show them what matters to us, when we need to.
