Rush Limbaugh Statement on Tim Russert's Death
Rush Limbaugh website ^ | June 13, 2008 | rush limbaugh

Posted on 06/13/2008 4:29:16 PM PDT by fkabuckeyesrule

"It's just a shame. Tim was a regular guy with that perpetual smile he wore naturally all the time. He loved life and got everything he could out of it. Whether it was at dinner here in Florida while his son was taking golf lessons, or on the set of Meet The Press, Tim was always the same with me: genuine. He never condescended to anyone and was the consummate professional. He will be hard to replace. He was the closest thing there was at any of the networks to an objective journalist."

Russert isn’t dead. FNC won’t let him die.

Bill Buckley was the God-Father of the modern conservative movement.

Long live WFB!

Again, yes, Reagan did away with the RAT muzzle known as the Fairness Doctrine. However, Mr. Reagan would have never held office if not for the incompetence of Jim-mah Carter and the elements of the conservative core existent in the American public that Reagan touched. No conservative principles in the bedrock American - no Reagan presidency. We can all play the game of chicken or the egg, but the conservative movement is more of a mosaic of effort and dividend.

In this sense, as I've said before, Mr. Reagan did well. However, when things are shaken out in history, I think the populist award will go to Rush for awakening the political consciousness of the average American and articulating the philosophies of Americanism that many held but could not define or share with others in a rational way. In addition, Rush defined and matured the medium of talk radio. For all his vaunted intelligence, Newt was a failure in bridging the communication barrier between Washington and the common man. In fact, Newt's CV might even be something less than conservative.

Washington princes owe all of America their laurels and privilege but America owes Rush it's gratitude.

“When Reagan died, the libs were almost dancing in the streets.”

I’ve got news for you. They started before he died. He had fallen a few years before he died, and you could tell the MSM was in Reagan death-watch mode. All the news shows at that time had guests on that were talking about Reagan as if he HAD just died. They could hardly wait.

****

Same thing happened to Charleton Heston. The MSM were drooling at even the thought...

Before Rush kicks the bucket, I hope his last wish is that every MSM reporter gets a letter that reads:

“you can all kiss my ass”.

Your attempts to rewrite the history of the conservative movement in America falls flat. Period. And your effort to undermine the Reagan legacy is truly sickening.

Reagan won two historic landslide elections, turned around a faltering economy and returned America to its military and leadership greatness. Gingrich, Armey and Lott stood with Reagan in the 1980`s to halt the march of liberalism. Rush was nowhere to be found.

Rush has never been elected to any position of public trust. Whatever Rush has done, doesn't begin to compare to the achievements and accomplishments of Ronald Reagan.

From the mid-1960`s, throughout the 1970`s, 1980`s and into the early 1990`s, Reagan was the active conservative leader in America. Your historic revisionism is ugly. Especially on conservative Free Republic.

Peggy Noonan has become increasingly batty through the years, maybe she was always that way and I was just missing it. She seems to believe every flowery phrase that flows from her typewriter or mouth is divinely inspired.

She also wanted to take credit for everything memorable Reagan ever said, as if she was his puppeteer. I sense a lot of narcissism in her every time I see or read her, than again, maybe it’s just me :)

Your antics on this thread to people of good will says volumes. You defame the good of those you seek to champion. Put a cork in your bottle and go to bed.

True the libs celebrated when Reagan died but if memory serves me correctly, the people demanded to see coverage for several days of the funeral etc. The media had no intention of doing any of that.

Why the anger in this exchange? We're supposed to be on the same side.

I think what WVRockDJ was trying to convey: Rush and President Reagan play/played on different fields. Rush and Russert played on the same field together. We had a policy player and commentary/reporting players. Apples and oranges.

Nobody can deny that President Ronald Reagan is the father of modern conservativism. Nobody can deny that Rush has been modern conservatism's biggest cheerleader and press agent.

No antics, bucko, just the factual truth.

You have the audacity to come onto conservative Free Republic, post falsehoods about Reagan and expect no one to challenge you. That ain't gonna happen.

First you call yourself a “charter member of the Reagan revolution”. Then you say, “I know very well how Rush feels about Ronaldus Maximus”. Then you decide to attack the Reagan legacy.

You don't really know what you stand for. That is the truth.
You're just another whiner.

There is talk that olberman was rubbing raw everybody at NBC with his diva attitude.

Russert was growing tired of his act.

Maybe his successor will fix NBC. (I know, I’m dreaming)

I’m not angry and I’m not the one who posted falsehoods about Reagan either. But I will defend Reagan, anytime, any place, against anyone.

Your pal is way off track and outa line.

Russert was a master of subtle, DNC propaganda.

Rest his soul, but you are right. A real, smart conservative would drive ratings. Don't know why they don't try.

Go Bills! What I liked best from Russert.

Nothing to quiz when it was so simple to comprehend.

Those of you who have served for long on this vessel have encountered alien life-forms. You know the greatest danger facing us is ourselves, and irrational fear of the unknown. But there's no such thing as 'the unknown,' only things temporarily hidden, temporarily not understood.
