I’m quite certain Rushs’ eulogy on Monday will have me in tears, as well as himself.
Rush thrived as did so many other Conservatives on radio thanks to Reagan who temporarily disabled the Fairness Doctrine. The scum on the left are doing their best to revive it and the result would be the death of conservative talk radio as we know it.

Reagan had the Bully Pulpit and he knew how to us it too. Reagan advanced conservatism like no one before him, or after him. That includes, Rush Limbaugh. Just ask Rush what he thinks of Reagan.
Let me remind all you history-challenged folks about something called the Fairness Doctrine. For starters, it was two federal appeals court Judges, named Bork and Scalia, who in 1986 determined that the FCC was under no requirement to enforce the the Fairness Doctrine.
That didn't stop the Democrat controlled Congress from overstepping their authority. In 1987 they attempted to codify the Fairness Doctrine. It was President Reagan who rejected and vetoed the Fairness Doctrine. Thus allowing the growth of talk radio. It was Reagan who gave Rush, Hannity and the other cosnervative talking heads the ability to sound off, without having to offer opposing viewpoints. Bush 41 upheld Reagan's decision, threatening his own veto of the so-called Fairness Doctrine in 1991. A big reason Rush supported Bush41 for reelection.
Without the original decision of President Reagan, Rush Limbaugh would not have had the opportunity to advance the conservative cause. Something he did well for many years. Obviously, not so much in recent years. After all, Rush is an entertainer, first and foremost.

Agreed. The Fairness Doctrine will have devastating results for Radio/TV, as well as political discourse as a whole. If America had any brains left, this particular piece of legislation should show them that ‘Rats don’t give a ‘Rat’s arse about free speech. If there is Fascism to be found in today’s politics, it’s squarely on the side of the libs....
You may not like Savage..you may not like Rush....you may not like Hannity...you may not like Levin....that’s irrelevant. You can push a button and they’re gone. Your choice. If the ‘Fairness Doctrine’ is allowed back into law, you’ll have no choice.

I think you are absolutely wrong with that statement. I will bet you cannot find a transcript where Rush says, "I am an enterainer, first and foremost." That is the lie the left passes around to diminish Rush. I believe Rush actually said a few weeks ago something to the effect that he was serious about political conservatism.
She is correct, but in ways she never intended.
Tim was a die hard lefty just like most of his cohorts in the mainstream media.
But he was actually more dangerous to America than many others because he came across as reserved and thoughtful instead of as a spitting, out of control lefty dogmatist like Maxine Waters or Howard Dean in their full rabid-dog mode. (!!!REDUNDANCY ALERT!!!)
Consequently, people took Tim seriously instead of tuning him out like more overt liberal operatives with a microphone.
But make no mistake - he used his position to push the liberal agenda just as much as Brian Williams and Keith Duh'O-lbermann, and probably with more effect.
It is not surprising that leftists are sad at this loss - there aren't that many of them who can retain their civility when they see a microphone as Tim did.
They know they have lost one of their most effective communicators.
A question for you, tho...did Reagan, advancing the cause of conservatism, contribute to a Republican controlled Congress? Did he have that during any of his Presidency? While he was able to accomplish many great things, he couldn't accomplish that. It is my point that the rise of the Conservative-skewed talk format for radio is due to Rush Limbaugh, not President Reagan. If you wish to posit that President Reagan was the instigator of the modern-day conservative movement, then we have no point of contention. However, if you're going on record to say that the ‘94 congressional revolution, and the resulting rise of conservative talk radio was a direct result of President Reagan wishing to advance that cause, then I respectfully disagree.
Get real. Rush is serious about himself. Sometimes his penchant for pushing conservative politics matches the agenda of the GOP. Sometimes it doesn’t match. I’ve heard Rush say several times over the 19 years I’ve listened to him, that he is an entertainer. Face it. If Rush wasn’t entertaining his audience properly, he wouldn’t have lasted 20 years on national radio.
Truth is, in recent years Rush has shown he has no real power in the political arena. If he had real power, his radio rhetoric would have helped to keep the GOP in power. Rush hopes people don’t catch onto the fact, his radio show drives his professional agenda.
Again, without Reagan vetoing the Fairness Doctrine, NO Rush, NO Hannity-Vannity, NO Levin, NO Savage. God bless Ronald Reagan.
However, it was Newt Gingrich who fought for 20 years to get a GOP controlled Congress. And with the help of the Contract With America, the GOP took control for the first time in 40 years. Rush was instrumental in spreading the conservative agenda on his radio show. But it was Newt --- along with Dick Armey and Trent Lott --- who deserve the most of the credit for decades of hard work that assured Republican victory in 1994.
