If he bore false witness or committed any other immoral act in his job and life, I pray he repented in his last moments.

What does it matter to you?

Well, with all the talk I've heard today stressing that he was a *devout* Catholic his views on these subjects,if known, would go a long way toward confirming or refuting the claim.

That’s a faction of the party.

It's the overwhelming majority of the 'Rat party. Can you name even six "conservative Democrats" in Congress? This isn't a trick question. I certainly can't name them.

Fortunately for ALL of us, God is interested in US, not our politics.

True enough. But I'm sure you understand that one's basic character/morality is often reflected by their politics.

A possible clue from his 2004 interview with Rush Limbaugh:

RUSSERT: And I had forgotten that imagery until, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall," and it's exactly the kind of resolve and determination that I saw in my dad, who is now 80 as I saw in President Reagan. You know, it's funny because people talk about Reagan Democrats. I know Reagan Democrats. I grew up in an Irish Catholic neighborhood. People who were born Democrats and baptized Catholic, and in the 60s and the 70s, they believed deeply that the Democratic Party left them, and that's very much the way Ronald Reagan experienced it a little bit earlier, in the 50s, and the reason people, these Democrats, these ethnic Democrats embraced Ronald Reagan was not because they had a checklist of his issues or philosophy or on a one-to-ten scale on tax cuts and so forth, not -- some did. Some did, but many others embraced him because he began to talk about the United States and what it is and what it stands for -- and morning again, America standing tall. That's what my dad grew up with. My dad's favorite expression in the whole world is, "What a country," and that's the language that Ronald Reagan used to explain who we were and what his vision was, and that's why Reagan Democrats embraced them so vigorously.

>>>>Tim Russert-— Overweight overworked, he was just working too hard, he was addicted to politics

In addition to a long flight, working on jet lag, residual dehydration.

He was just in Italy a gourmet paradise. All the above were just too much.
He was obviously able to push himself hard but he went a little too far. Like in the Clint Eastwood movie ---"A mans got to know his limitations"

Chris Wallace told Laura I. tonight on The Factor that the most important things to Tim were his family, his Catholic faith, and his sports teams.

God Bless and God Speed Mr Russert. He will be missed as a good man and a patriot. Feel awful for his family Big Russ and his kid and wife. It just puts into perspective that you can achieve the pinnacle of human endeavors and it is only a temporary thing.

“I call that a Closet conservative”

What he was is a type of Democrat that has been eclipsed in his Party by the Left. He was a patriot, religious, with blue collar roots. In sensibility he was very much like his former boss Senator Pat Moynihan, or Sam Stratton who once represented upstate New York in the House. It would be very good for all of us if this sort of Democrat could take back their Party.

Apparently Tim once hosted for Rush

Thanks for that info. Rush Limbaugh delivered a statement and once again proved he is a gentleman and knows what is the proper form. A nice eulogy for the late Tim Russert

Russert moderated Meet The Press for many years and was typically an analyst on various news stories when appearing on the nightly news or live event coverage. Anyone who watched even a small amount of his work would not refer to him as a teleprompter reader.

Yes he was. Is that why he died? Even this VWRC card carrying tinfoil hatter to the max thinks no....

But it is something, isn’t it? Klintonista enemies have a way of just leaving life in an untimely manner...

Everyone from Rush Limbaugh to Newt Gingrich to Sean Hannity have been talking about how his character was unimpeachable. They all knew him.

Nice excerpt.

My opinion, Russert was an enigma—a pleasant, reasonable, patriotic liberal. My measure of a man is what kind of family man he is and it appeared he excelled at that.
