I think it says he’s WHITE.

Hmm. You might be right. Don't birth certificates list race?

Wouldn’t the federal agency which oversees elections look into whether or not a candidate met the qualifications to be president?

I have never run for office at any level. Maybe someone who has run for a federal office can tell us what documents they had to provide when filing to run for election.

Actually, his mother’s marriage may NOT have been legal. IIRC, his father never got a divorce from his first wife and returned to Kenya and had more children with her, who are now BO’s siblings. THEY are Kenyan citizens. Obama’s mother may not have known about that and assumed that her marriage was his only one, or that least that it had been legally dissolved. It’s an issue that raises some legal questions.

It won't matter. They'll say that his intent was good, that it wasn't his fault that his family lied to him about his birth records and parents' marital status, he meant well, he didn't know, so it's okay with them if he runs.

From that link:

US Law very clearly stipulates: “…If only one parent was a U.S. Citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.”

Barack Obama’s father was not a U.S. Citizen and Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obama was born, which means though she had been a U.S. Citizen for 10 years, (or citizen perhaps because of Hawai’i being a territory) the mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years **prior to** Barack Obama’s birth, but *after* age 16. It doesn’t matter *after* .

In essence, she was not old enough to qualify her son for automatic U.S. Citizenship. At most, there were only 2 years elapsed since his mother turned 16 at the time of Barack Obama’s birth when she was 18 in Hawai’i. His mother would have needed to have been 16+5= 21 years old, at the time of Barack Obama’s birth for him to have been a natural-born citizen.

As aformentioned, she was a young college student at the time and was not. Barack Obama was already 3 years old at that time his mother would have needed to have waited to have him as the only U.S. Cizen parent. Obama instead should have been naturalized, but even then, that would still disqualify him from holding the office. ------------- I don't see this in your list, top2toe, wonder where this provision is?

And according to the linked website that law may have came off the books in 1986. In other words the law may be void or ab initio.

So what is Obama really hiding that's on his birth certificate?

There's no mention of this at the US Constitution Online site ... at least five of which had to be after the age of 16. {{{shrug}}}

I wouldn’t think so. Did he take federal election money?

BO’s mother was born in Wichita, Kansas.

She was always a US citizen.

Also, I really doubt this law was intended to affect a parent who was themselves a natural born citizen who never lived outside the US - I think it was aimed at naturalized citizens who had a child with a non-citizen. I don’t think that law applied to someone who was born in the United States. Heck if that’s the case then millions of Americans who are 4th or 5th generation, born to mothers under 21, with immigrant fathers, aren’t “natural born” citizens.

Exactly. Obama’s father had been married before and apparently did not tell his mother about it when they were married.

So, what was it? Under American law, such a marriage could easily be annulled—or under traditional Catholic law, for instance. It was a marriage under false pretences.

Obama seems to treat it as a Muslim marriage, with his mother as the second wife. But was there ever a proper Muslim marriage? And if so, was it legal under American law? Even Muslims are expected to inform second wives about the existence of their first wives.

Perhaps it would not matter if Obama were simply illegitimate, if there were not also questions about his citizenship.

And also, frankly, some basic questions about his good judgment. Why does he prefer and idolize a drunken, corrupt, philandering, wife-abandoning, child-abandoning father over his mother—and over the grandparents who loved him, paid for his schooling, and brought him up—apparently for no other reason than that his father represented two things he admired over everything else: He was Muslim and black.

McCain was born in the Canal Zone, now part of Canada, but then part of the US.

Really? Canada?! Not Panama?

I guess you learn something every day!

Only if he was born outside the U.S. If he was born in Hawaii, he is a natural-born citizen under the 14th Amendment, even if neither parent were a citizen.
