Having done some Obama-rumor debunking that got praise from Daily Kos (a sign of the apocalypse, no doubt), perhaps the Obama campaign could return the favor and help debunk a bunch of others with a simple step: Could they release a copy of his birth certificate?

This is not unreasonable nor disrespectful, considering that one of the 2004 candidates provided his dental records to validate a critical date/time.
Did Jesus have a birth certificate?
O is the new messiah, dontcha know? He don’t need no stinkin’ birth certificate!
I do not see what the big deal is.
If you know his mother’s name, date of birth and where he was born for around $20 anyone can get the birth certificate.
Someone should just buy it.
One could even make the argument that being born in Hawaii, he’s a Hawaiian national not an American I suppose.
But it is a gray area that obviously hasn’t been tested.
I believe records of birth are public records. All whoever’s interested has to do is go look it up.
Isn't one of the requirements to hold the office that he be a natural born citizen? Is it too much to ask him to prove that he is?
ML/NJ
I believe I read on another thread that in the State of Hawaii only the person who the birth certficate belongs to can legally request a copy.
I’ve read elsewhere that b/c’s in Hawaii are not in the public record. So just buying a copy is not an option.
...his campaign would not release it and the state of Hawaii does not make such records public.
This creates a situation where it is possible that Obama was NOT a citizen by fact of birth. Perhaps a citizen later through change of law, but not a “natural born” citizen.
Obama must be pressured daily on this. He is obviously hiding something.
Good point.
Your passport shows your birthplace.
Where are those that looked at and leaked his passport information?
You’ve got to be kidding me?
All the while the leftists were screaming about John McCain’s birth and eligibility.....it is Obama, whose birth and eligibility, might actually disqualify him?
It’s always bait and switch with the dems, isn’t it?
I don’t think that is legal in Hawaii.
What is really intriguing to me is that it appears there is no technical “application process” to run for President. The Parties can technically nominate anyone they want.
Does that mean anyone could run and it would be up to someone or another party suing to prevent it, and thus laying the burden of proof upon the Plantiff? Let’s say one party was nominating a guy who moved to the USA when he was 2, but no one really knows his story. Arnold in CA is too obvious because he was older and widely known. But if a party nominates the guy, he refuses to “release the BC”..........I dunno...this is all odd.
Well, we definitely know it’s December 25, in Bethlehem.
It’s only the year we need to find out.
This is not unreasonable nor disrespectful, considering that one of the requirements to be President is that one be a natural-born citizen.
I'll chip in $ towards the filing fee.
