I meant it as a half-hearted joke, but I won't be surprised to see huge numbers of "Republicans" adopt this attitude.

When the Republican party is Crushed? It’s already History.
Nothing.
For two reasons.
Qualitatively the two major parties are virtually identical Look at the national debt, budget deficits, illegal immigration, energy management and Constitutionally guaranteed rights abuses to ordinary citizens, and I can't tell the difference.
The second reason is that living a conservative life has given me the tools I need better to survive conditions no matter if the dingbats get what they wish for: Government by the incompetent.

You ask the question as though it is a given that a conservative is also necessarily a republican. That’s not true.
As for myself, I will always support (conservative) individuals without regard for party affiliation. If all, or a large percentage of, Republican candidates are conservative, then I might again become aligned (in spirit) with the GOP.
That’s not the case right now, and it doesn’t look to be the case in the near future.
What have they done for us lately? They lied about their intentions last time they ran for office. Who can trust them now?

Refuse to get “the mark” placed on my head.
If the GOP make it clear (and it's almost there) that it is finished with conservative positions, then I am done with the GOP. Time to start rebuilding again.

I think some of the “Haghani Circle conservatives” here on free republic will celebrate.
Remember when the Tory party (PC) in Canada broke off and merged with the Reform Party, they were out of office for 12 years. Even now they have only a minorty govt that could change if the NDP or Bloc Quebecois merges with the Liberal Party to form a Govt.
It’s better to change from within.
While it would suck for the country it would work in our favor if we could capitalize on the deomcrats incompetence.

Progressive ideas are not healthy for a free and civil society. They use the forceful power of the federal government to infringe upon my rights according to the Constitution of the United States.
They have corrupted the ideas of ‘rights’ as the ‘entitlement to others’ property and talents’.
The progressives stand foe to economic freedom and individual liberty.
I am ready to stand up for my right to pursue my own liberty and happiness.
