Most of France's tanks, helicopters and jet fighters are unusable and its defence apparatus is on the verge of "falling apart", it has emerged. France's military has been given a bleak prognosis according to confidential defence documents leaked to the French press, less than half of France's Leclerc tanks – 142 out of 346 – are operational and even these regularly break down. Less than half of its Puma helicopters, 37 per cent of its Lynx choppers and 33 per cent of its Super Frelon models – built 40 years ago – are in a fit state to fly, according to documents seen by Le Parisien newspaper. Ummm... I don’t think that’s an accurate summation of France’s military history, but it’s late (I’ve just returned from a trip abroad) and I am tired...
Quick, someone call Germany and tell them that if they act fast and promise to eradicate French culture and replace it with their own, they can invade France and nobody will do anything about it.

When a country values social welfare programmes over defence, this is bound to happen.
The French are simply stupid. They chose between entitlements and National Defense. We, in the United States, should freakin PAY HEED!

No, they didn't. They got both.
The French have not had to pay for a credible National Defense ever since God created the Pax Americana.
That goes for the rest of the European Union.
And Canada too.
But they have White Flags in abundance; starched, pressed, neatly stacked, and at the ready; should the call come.
Just in World War II, the following countries defeated the French:
Germany
Italy
Thailand
England
Japan
US
France
Post World War II:
Vietnam
Algeria
Egypt
And before they say the Commies did both, they must be reminded that the Communist "social welfare state" was only third world level for those who survived the purges and famines -- and their governments failed.
