SFChron: Obama is a 'Rare Kind of Attuned Being,' a 'Lightworker'
Newsbusters.org ^ | 6/6/08 | Warner Todd Huston

Posted on 06/06/2008 7:27:45 PM PDT by Mobile Vulgus

Well, I have come to the conclusion that Mark Morford of the San Francisco Chronicle just threw away the last tiny shred of credibility he might have had left by dreamily imagining that Barack Obama is so omniscient, so "ethereal" and so messiah-like that he isn't a "normal" human being. Maybe Mark thinks he might be an alien from another planet, some trans-dimensional traveler, or maybe an angel come down in human form to lead us sheep into the promised land? I'm not exaggerating either. In his latest piece he calls Obama a "Rare Kind of Attuned Being," a "Lightworker," he says he is "ethereal" and "magical" -- hello Rush Limbaugh -- and feels that Obama is "not really one of us" in the "normal way." Morford and those who feel like him have lost all touch with reality and the sickness is spreading.

I think that columnist Morford is off his medication, or maybe he's just drunk, or perhaps he fell on his head recently? Or perhaps Shirley MacLaine came down off the mothership and stole Mark's computer... something freaky is going on there in San Francisco, anyway. Or maybe what makes me think something weird is in the air out there is just that Morford's latest editorial is one of the most amazing examples of the wild eyed ranting of the most whacked out Obamessiah believers yet to show up in print instead of just on the nutrooter blogs. Instead of appearing in a purportedly legitimate newspaper, this is the fodder for the fantasy land of a Coast to Coast with George Noory. Instead of serious political discussion, this sort of thing belongs on Jerry Springer.

But get ready to see this sort of insane euphoria spread as Obamessiah dons his no lapel flag vestments and deigns to appear before the people who love him unconditionally, uncritically, and uninformed of anything he really stands for.

I won't bore you with his whole, nutty piece, but here are just some of the lowlights of Morford's slavish devotion to the political Svengali that is Barack Obama.

Have you lost your lunch yet? Well, you may not have lost your lunch, but this pseudo religious tripe may be proof that Morford has lost his sanity!

Naturally, Morford had to revel a bit in his Bush Derangement Syndrome and regurgitated several slams against Bush, but the real message of this rambling little editorial was in this one little segment nestled deep in Morford's ranting.

(not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual)

And there you have it. Like most extremists, leftists Morford pretends to stand against religion when all the while he is looking for something man made to replace it. Acting as if he is too smart, too cool for superstitious religion, Morford replaces centuries old teachings with this whacked out, new agie, childishness in this case built on a mere politician. But, even as he creates his newfangled religion, like all leftists, he has to attack everyone else who subscribes to a real religion. He must belittle, degrade and ridicule religious people everywhere.

Of course, Morford realizes how silly he sounds to be as starstruck as a 13 year-old girl that is infatuated with the latest rock-n-roll boy band. He even gets so defensive about it he preemptively calls everyone one who will look at him askance all sorts of names.

This is what I find myself offering up more and more in response to the whiners and the frowners and to those with broken or sadly dysfunctional karmic antennae - or no antennae at all - to all those who just don't understand and maybe even actively recoil against all this chatter about Obama's aura and feel and MLK/JFK-like vibe.

I see, so if you don't "get" the Obamessiah fever you are "sadly dysfunctional"? It seems to me that Morford is working himself up to consider "unbelievers" in the same way Torquemada did in the 15th century! Is Morford too far from burning Obama deniers at the stake?

This sort of unrealistic, deification of Barack Obama is the sort of thing that can easily propel him into the White House. It is also the sort of thing that can cause people to imagine his presidency to have been, in hindsight, a bitter disappointment. What sane person cannot realize the expectations for an Obamessiah are simply impossible for Barack to live up to?

You think Clinton's years in office were retrospectively considered the most wasted opportunity in a life time? Wait until a president Obamessiah turns the big White House key over to a Republican to hear the lamentations of the faithful begin to ring out. The "bitterness" will likely be unbearable.

So, I have an idea. Let's defeat Obamessiah and forego all the gnashing of teeth and wearing of sackcloth that will surely be the result of an Obama presidency!

And if Mark Morford has a nervous breakdown because of it all... well, I don't know about you, but I am willing to risk that happening.

Can't disagree with anything you said. Great post.

Also, as others have mentioned, the idea that it is God's gift of discernment, as it pertains to Obama, is interesting. Maybe that's why so many of us are dumbfounded and frustrated that so many others are blind to the dangers of this man, and think he's a super swell, harmless, caring man, while we see just the opposite. I spend a lot of my internet time on an NFL message board that is kind of a free for all in the off-season as far as topics go, and I'm currently embroiled in several different discussions regarding Obama, and the vapid reasons for liking Obama that are given by people who I would otherwise consider extremely intelligent individuals, is maddening and useless, as no amount of reason seems to be able to penetrate their vision of Obama being some kind of personal savior who fills the void that atheism has left in their souls. These are people that vociferously argue against Christians, and having Christianity in any part of public life, yet they don't even realize that they're making their own God out of a politician by refusing to admit that the man might have even the tinyest of faults, let alone any glaring faults that would keep him, under "normal" circumstances, far away from the White House. Obama scares me, but his devoted followers scare me just as much, or more. He's only one person, while there are millions and millions of them.

The first time I saw him was when I went to visit my parents in Illinois for Christmas in 2005, and he was on the TV. I knew nothing about him except that my liberal parents loved him, and they told me that he was a shoe-in for the Dem nomination in 2008, which told me what side of the political aisle he was from, but not much more than that. Then he came on the TV and they sat staring at him with their unblinking eyes glazed over and this creepy smile on their faces, and as I looked at him, I just got this overwhelming feeling of dread, which has only increased with each passing month, and each passing year, as his recognition became more national. Outside of Illinois, most people had never heard of the guy until recently, but I knew of him 3.5 years ago, so you can imagine how I might feel now, as he's "climbed the ladder" for the last 4 years, coming out of nowhere, all the way to the Dem nomination. Ugh.

Very interesting analysis! And completely correct, of course.

It is true that one tends to think of New Agers as being dumb as the day is long but basically harmless. However, I think we’ve rather ignored the fact that a large part of our fellow citizens have somehow, almost without thinking about it, become New Agers. This stuff spreads through Oprah and other mass media gurus and has even invaded liberal churches. The result is that while many people would probably not identify themselves as New Agers, their beliefs are identical.

The revolting adulation of Obama has completely mystified me, but if one thinks of vast numbers of de facto New Agers sitting out there waiting for their enlightened master, and then having the media rush forward to play John the Baptist and proclaim him, this makes perfect sense.

I always thought that the “New Age” stuff was kind of a way that people can claim spirituality while choosing an alternative lifestyle or without having to change, as in “Repent! Go and sin no more”.

It’s a shame so many people are deceived by this nonsense.

He did seem to just come out of nowhere.

I believe he owes much of his success to the media, who have carefully constructed him like they were building a monument.

I call him the Test Tube candidate of the MSM.

Excellent post

Finally, the most “telling” of all is the inclusion of Islam as if it were some benign variant on the Judeo/Christian tradition.

I'm one of those people who "learned everything I need to know about Islam on 9/11"

On 9/10, Islam was unknown to me except as the religion of the middle East and I bought into the lie that Judeo/Christian/Islam was the big three religions all cut from the same rock. "God" or "Jehovah"

Islam may have small aspects of Judaism in it from traditions, but allah (cult moon god) and his murdering pedophile of a prophet Mad Mo' and their hordes of blood thirsty savages isn't a religion, it a political system bent on world or at minimum regional domination of all things, In many ways they are worst then communist

The chasm of difference between Christianity and Islam is so great and so vast it's mindboggling when still there are MSM or academia mouthpieces still refer to Islam as the child of Judeo/Christian tradition. It's more like bastard child spawned from pits of hell

It would be even more horrifying.

I would still HAVE to vote against him, even if it meant throwing away a vote on a third part nominee or, God forbid, his Democrat opponent.

Whatever letter beside is beside his name is irrelevant.
The dread and repulsion would remain the same.

[so I guess I can be grateful to him for *not* being “one of ours”, at least]

The biblical “roots” of Arabs [and Islam] are Ishmael:

http://www.keyway.ca/htm2002/ishmael.htm

“Behold, you are with child, and shall bear a son; you shall call his name Ishmael; because The Lord has given heed to your affliction. He shall be a wild ass of a man, his hand against every man and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell over against all his kinsmen.” (Genesis 16:11-12 RSV).

Not to say that Obama is the "man of sin" referred to by Paul in the NT, but the following passage from 2nd Thessalonians gives pause as to whether or not the world is being prepared for this man:

1. NOW we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,
2. that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.
3. Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,
4. who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.
5. Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?
6. And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed.
7. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
8. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;
9. that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,
10. and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
11. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,
12. in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.
13. But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.
14. It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15. So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.
16. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace,
17. comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.

Thanks, I'm well aware of that fact.

I bought into the lie that Judeo/Christian/Islam was the big three religions all cut from the same rock. "God" or "Jehovah"

My point was even though Islam can be traced back to Ishmael, though their version is different than the Jewish account, their claim that god "allah" is the same God as the Judeo/Christian faith is a complete falsehood

"...I call him the Test Tube candidate of the MSM

An excellent comparison. I like to think of him in poker terms, as the 7-2 offsuit candidate. Worst possible starting hand in texas holdem.

We all know that the Dems love to try to foist the worst kind of liberalism on the nation every 4 years with whatever candidate they bring forward, but this time, it's like they're trying to outdo themselves in lunacy.

Both the media and the Dems working together might believe that this election, after 8 years of nothing but pushing "bad news" down everyone's throat, is their best opportunity to put one of the most dangerous practitioners of their ideology to date, in the WH, knowing full well that half this nation is stupid enough to fall for a marxist wrapped in airy slogans like "change" and "hope" and "yes we can!"

And if he fails to win? Eh, no big deal! They'll just continue to do what they've been doing: Dumbing down the populace, undermining all that is good and right, and biding their time, waiting for the ignorance of this nation to reach a critical mass, which will allow all their marxist dreams to finally come to fruition, eventually. For the Dems, it's starting to appear as though they're willing to lose every presidential election, as long as they can win one, eventually. They shove all-in with 7-2 offsuit every 4 years, and eventually their miracle suckout will happen and be turned into a full house one time, and boom, they'll rake in the pot. Who cares if no more hands are dealt after that?

That's how I think they see presidential elections anymore. Eventually, they are banking on the stupidity of the public mixed with nothing but bad news to put their dream commie in the WH. Obama is just the latest, most brazen attempt.

Perhaps his experience as a Senator is so minimal because they believe this cycle represents their best chance to make that happen, experience be damned.

Sorry if it seemed like I was pontificating to you.
I posted that for the general public because not everyone may be aware of it.

It was put there to give some back story to the whole historical arab/Jew antagonism.

“Allah”, on the other hand, is a work of pure [poor?] fiction.

7-2 off! LOL! You got that right!

I’m afraid these fools are going to suck out this time though.

At least we’re not holding aces to add insult to injury!

>half this nation is stupid enough to fall for a marxist wrapped in airy slogans like “change” and “hope” and “yes we can!”<

I was discussing the mortgage crisis with a co worker one day. He refused to believe there could have been that many stupid people who fell for those loans. (IMO, it all boils down to either stupidity or greed.)

How can he not believe there are that many stupid people?

All the proof is there when you see the fools in office. Millions of other fools put them there! These are the same fools who will assure victory for Obama.

There’s that whole other matter of the stacked deck too. MSM is the crooked dealer.

The ignorance of this nation has already reached “critical mass” as you wrote. To me, this election cycle proves it beyond a reasonable doubt.

Yeah, there was an article the other day here, don't know if you read it, from "The American Thinker" called "The Audacity of the Democrats." Rush even talked about it on his show Monday. It was a great article detailing everything that has happened over the last 8 years, from the Dems whining in perpetuity about the first election, leading all the way up to this one, with everything in between being orchestrated by themselves and the media, for the sole purpose of regaining the WH. It laid out in clear detail what they've done to undermine this country over the entire length of the Bush administration. Of course, it didn't help matters that Bush never did much to defend himself in the face of all their lies either.

The article ended talking about how all that the Dems and the media have done since 2000 has been purposefully designed to rupture the confidence of this country so greatly that Obama is now the juicy looking bait on the hook to the masses, promising to be their "savior" in every way.

I posted this link in another thread, but it's worth seeing on this one too. It has the same story that is in the OP, plus dozens and dozens of others of a similar bent, with all the Obama masses feeling like he's some kind of a God that has come to save everyone. Pretty scary reading really, when you see all of these articles about Obama and his religious zealots on one site. The imagery/art, and the words of his zomby supporters reminded me of Germany during the ww2 era as they followed their nazi messiah over the cliff, and took millions into oblivion with them.obamamessiahblog

“... a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama” - Barack Obama Lebanon, New Hampshire.
January 7, 2008.

The above quote is from the link you referred me to.

Here is an Obama quote I got in e-mail from hubby today:

“My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”

- Barack Obama

Priceless, no?

Concerning that second quote, from a column by Mark Steyn:

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/obama-speech-remake-2061941-sen-great

A few months back, just after the New Hampshire primary, a Canadian reader of mine – John Gross of Quebec – sent me an all-purpose stump speech for the 2008 campaign:

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it."

I thought this was so cute, I posted it on the Web at National Review. Whereupon one of those Internetty-type things happened, and three links and a Google search later the line was being attributed not to my correspondent but to Sen. Obama, and a few weeks after that I started getting e-mails from reporters from Florida to Oregon, asking if I could recall at which campaign stop the senator, in fact, uttered these words.

No. Tell your hubby that this was said by John Gross of Quebec several months ago in an email to Mark Steyn about an all-purpose 2008 stump speech, not by Barack Obama. Steyn mentioned it in a short piece at National Review Online. Shortly afterward, he began getting email asking him about where he had heard BO say it. He wrote another column on the matter.
