Great idea! Now if you could set up next to the ATF booth that I have seen at some shows it would be absolutely perfect!

Agreed. But until that happens, one would think it would be reasonable to expect a Republican administration to give us at least a moderate BATFE director.

One might expect that, but one would be wrong. There hasn't been a pro-gun BATF director since the agency was established during the LBJ administration. I had an FFL during the Reagan, Bush I, and Clinton administrations and in all that time the BATF was as anti-gun as Hitler's Gestapo, and it's enforcement tactics weren't much different from that Nazi agency's own.

About a year after Clinton was elected the district BATF office gave me a choice of turning in my license or being prosecuted for operating a firearms business in an area that was not officially zoned for retail business. It was technically true that the area was not officially zoned for storefront retail businesses, but the county had never enforced that designation and there were many other small retail businesses in operation all over the same area. All of which told me that the BATF district office had researched my little operation in every detail, and was using whatever possible iota of impropriety they could dig up to put gun dealers in it's district out of business.

During the two Clinton terms, mainly during the first term, roughly 180,000 licensed gun dealers were either forced out of business or voluntarily turned in their FFL to keep from being persecuted by BATF. Notice that I said persecuted, not prosecuted, because the vast majority of those dealers were innocent of any wrongdoing but couldn't afford to fight BATF in court, or were afraid they might have to literally fight BATF's corps of Gestapo wannabee goons in their homes or places of business.

If anyone ever doubts that although the US may still be the home of the brave it is no longer the land of the free, all they have to do to learn otherwise is talk to a former gun dealer who was run out of business during the Clinton era about how he or she was treated by the out of control professional bullies and Gestapo wannabees who BATF uses to intimidate and in many instances physically assault and abuse legitimate, law abiding, properly licensed gun dealers in order to force them out of a type of business that the federal government doesn't like.

The BATF threat wasn't really a big deal for me because my little part time firearms and ammunition sales operation was not my primary source of income by any means, and in fact it was barely showing a profit. But the principle was the same as if I had been a large scale firearms merchant running a multimillion dollar per year business. Except for that one minor zoning technicality that the county routinely ignored I had scrupulously observed every detail of all applicable state and federal firearms laws and had never once violated even the most insignificant BATF ruling or interpretation of those laws. According to the firearms retailer's association, which I never joined BTW, my experience with BATF was not at all unusual, and was in fact typical of the way the agency operated during the Clinton administration. I don't know how the agency is operated under Bush's administration, but I seriously doubt that it is any less hostile to the constitutional precept "shall not be infringed", because BATF's policies and actions have been antithetical to the Amendment's intent ever since it was created 4 decades ago.

ATF can bite me. They are the single most useless bunch of governmental do-nothings in existence, today.

If BATF was just useless it wouldn't pose nearly the danger to innocent gun owners and firearms merchants that it actually does. The demonstrable fact is that BATF is a rogue agency directed and staffed by Nazi-esque anti-gun zealots who have usurped the power to inflict incredible harm on anyone or any enterprise involved in the firearms industry, and even on individual gun owners in many instances.

If ever there has been a federal agency that more clearly illustrates the illicit, unrestrained power that the federal government can and does use to deprive the American people of our constitutional rights I can't imagine which one it would be.

ATF acknowledges inconsistent story,

You could try giving an "inconsistent story" to an investigator, and end up in prison for perjury.

I learned everything I needed to know about the BATF at Ruby Ridge and Waco.

BATF (now BATFE) was never at Ruby Ridge. They were at the initial raid at Waco, but not afterwards.

Huh?

Randy Weaver sold two shotguns to BATF agents with barrels sawn down to under the legal limit as per their request.

The BATF set him up. Other feds murdered him and his family.
