VIRGINIA - The objective of a new video game is to stop the spread of Christianity and Islam by brutally killing biblical prophets, says the games atheist creator.
A graduate student at the University of Virginia created the game --which has not yet been released-- in order to give a voice to atheists, according to WSLS Television News. The grad-student wishes to remain anonymous for fear of his safety.
His request is understandable --considering at one point in his game players win by beheading the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. Nearly a year ago, an even less bold stunt resulted in death threats to Swedish Cartoonist, Lars Viliks for portraying the prophet as a dog in one of his drawings. He was forced into hiding and required police protection.
Despite the possibility of violent retaliation, the games creator feels that in a world full of religious messages --the atheist message deserves its own soapbox.
Atheists have never really had anything to speak for them like this. Its the general atheist premise that the world might be a better place without some of those religions, he says.
Controversial, may be the understatement of the year, when describing the untitled game. But the creator insists that its violent nature is just a mirror to the violence that we already see.
He hopes the games real message --helping kids imagine a time when religion was new and less organized-- will not become an undertone to the violence.
Its the idea of being able to go back in time and sort of nipping the problem in the bud, says the game's creator.
Actually you had decades of Scientific Communism in Asia, Soviet Union, Vietnam and Cuba, etc.
How'd that work out for ya?

Ha! Dead Man Walking or is that walking dead man or man walking dead? The muzzies will hunt him down.

You can’t hide from EVERYONE.
Was that thunder? one mississippi... two mississippi,,,
As a University of Virginia undergrad whose parents survived Communism in a Soviet satellite state, I am not amused.
That said, there was an incident a year or two ago in which some of our newspaper's cartoonists were booted for drawing cartoons that portrayed Christ (and Christians, more generally) in a rather poor and distasteful light.
How ironic. It is Christ' brutal killing on the cross (and his resurrection) that is at the heart of Christianity. That didn't slow it down. That formed it.
I wonder who he is more afraid of? The muslims or the Christians? Hmmmmm... And he argues he is simply holding up a “mirror” to what is going on. Liar.
Well, that just about wraps up modern atheism.
Why so much hate for something they don’t believe in?
Steven - Stoned to death for his faith.
James the son of Zebedee - beheaded.
Philip - crucified.
Matthew - impaled on a halbard.
Mark - beaten to death
Peter - crucified upside down
Bartholomew - flayed
Thomas - stabbed with a spear
Luke - hanged
Looks like his alternate take on things might not change things that much.
Can we buy a version that just lets us behead Mohammed (Pi$$ Be Upon Him) over and over and over again?

You are not amused by...my statement? or this guy's video game?
BTW, My parents escaped the worker's paradise of Castro's Cuba.
Most of my uncles and aunts didn't make it (i.e. they had a swift trial at which they were found guilty of anti-revolutionary activites, and then shot)
Yay!!! Scientific Communism!

What a poorly written article. No information on what game platform this new video game will run on, or if it is for the PC where it can be downloaded.
a group of good ol folks who are going to be hating death when they realize that they were wrong about the whole "God" thing.
basically it is going to suck to be them.
I should have been more specific. But...it's been a long day, sitting in class and learning about things like the fact that staying married is a good financial decision and supply-side economics. (And yes, I did actually learn about these two topics in summer session here today.)
I am not amused by the video game's content. Hell, I would bet it was a Computer Science student who created it. (Not that I would know, though I am majoring in Computer Science in the Engineering School and live across the street from their building.)
But how good are the graphics?
And how about an alternative version, where we get to behead Darwin, Marx, Nietzsche, and Freud?
After all, there should be two sides to a good war game.
So? Hack the game so the prophets can smite the atheists back. Problem solved.
And then, of course, somebody’s going to drop a YouTube video where the ensemble is singing “The Internet Is For Porn”. I know it. You know it. Let’s get it over with.
INTREP
Hey coward, you can hide from Muslims.
But you can’t hide from God. My God. The only God.
