Legendary sex symbol Brigitte Bardot has been fined £12,000 for inciting racial hatred against Muslims.
Animal rights campaigner Bardot argued that Muslims should stun animals before slaughtering them during the Aid al-Kabir holiday
In December 2006 the retired French film star-turned-animal rights activist wrote a letter to Frances then interior minister, Nicolas Sarkozy, arguing that Muslims should stun animals before slaughtering them during the Aid al-Kabir holiday.
She outraged anti-racist groups by saying: Ive had enough of being led by the nose by this whole population which is destroying us, and destroying our country by imposing their ways.
Miss Bardot, now 73, made it clear that she was referring to Muslims in the letter.
She was absent from today's court hearing in Paris, but wrote to prosecutors saying: I'm sickened by how anti-racist groups are harassing me.
I won't shut up until stunning is carried out on animals before their ritual slaughter.
Miss Bardot, who shot to wordwide fame in the 50s in the lead role in And God Created Woman, already has four convictions on similar charges.
In 2004 she was fined £4000 for inciting racial hatred in her book A Cry in the Silence.
France is home to Europes largest Muslim community, estimated at five million people.
Maybe they shouldn’t fine her for “racial hatred” but animals are not a good reason to impose one’s beliefs on others.
Animal rights is an easy way for anti-Semites to get to, attack and oppress Jews; this is already happening in several European countries. One shouldn’t think this affects only Muslims.
Brigitte Bardot in her prime was approximately twenty times more beautiful than Pamela Anderson in 1993.
Amazing! A liberal Frenchwoman I agree with!
Animal rights vs. Muslim rights - and right now, the animals are losing.
This kind of censorship of so called “hate speech” is a complete waste of government resources. People should be free to say whatever they want so long as it is not a direct incitement to violence, a slander or a fraud.
Still is when you factor in integrity and courage.
I really, really admire her. She had said more than just this, talking about how the churches are emptying out just as all the mosques spring up.
She doesn't confine herself to animals.
This woman rocks.
Depends. The winners write the history books. Not the losers.
I second that motion. I never understood some's interest in Pamela Anderson.
Well, she tells it like it is. I’m usually leary of those animal rights extremists but she seems like a smart lady overall.
First of all - “Muslim” is not a race.
Given that, the rest of the accusations are moot.
Much, much prettier than Pam Anderson, in her day.

“France: Bardot Fined For Muslim Comments”
so is this a discussion of who is the better sex symbol? or are we trying to make sense of bridgette’s xenophobia?
Please explain...noob.
“sex symbol” ?
She was no symbol, she was the real thing !
And that appearance stuff is a sideline off the topic, true. Personally I don’t give a blank about her xenophobia, if thats what it is. Lots of silly celebrities have silly ideas, hers don’t grate as much as do many others.
