Clinton Spokesperson: She Is Not Conceding
ABC News ^ | June 06, 2008 | Kate Snow and Eloise Harper

Posted on 06/02/2008 1:23:39 PM PDT by Berlin_Freeper

Clinton spokesperson Mo Elleithee came to the back of the press plane as Clinton flew from Rapid City to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He was asked about Clinton's definition of when a nominee would be determined -– because she has refused to accept the new 2,118 delegates number that the Democratic Party says is needed to clinch the nomination.

"I think its pretty clear that she is not conceding." Elleithee said, "I think its pretty clear that she is staying in this race. She is going, in the coming days, to be aggressively courting uncommitted superdelegates aggressively courting unpledged delegates, making the case to them that she is a candidate best ready to take on John McCain."

...He continued “until there is a nominee we are going to still work to become that nominee. When asked when they would determine a nominee would be selected –- because the Clinton campaign has refused to accept fully the 2,118 number –- Elleithee said, “we're exploring -- she has said before she wants to have this to be resolved before the convention -- we are reviewing our options.”

Eliethee continued, “We do not expect that a nominee will be clear tomorrow night … she is mostly going to be working the phones and meeting with these delegates."

When asked why Clinton was spending tomorrow in New York at an event the campaign is calling a "victory party," Clinton’s spokesperson said, “it’s a good way to close out this phase of the campaign is come to New York bring all of her supporters together, have a big celebratory election night party as we move into the next phase of the campaign which is obviously the courting of these delegates.”

No one cares about fair play or good manners or grace any longer. Clintons never cared. They'll steal, kill, blackmail, do whatEVER it takes to get what they want.

Sadly, the liberals seem quite willing to overlook their abhorrent, indecent methods.

She has nothing to lose and everything to gain if she holds on and stays in the race. Buyer’s regret is starting to settle in on the Obamunists, and she may yet turn this thing around...

Continuing...

The Demorats will soon learn....

They’re pot committed and have grossly overplayed their hand.

Didn’t she say, a few weeks back, that she would stay in the race until somebody got the necessary number of delegates?

“I still think she’ll win the nomination somehow.”

I think she is being sworn in in Jan 2009.

...replace him with the candidate who came in second in the balloting for the nomination in Denver (whether or not Hitlery is the VP nominee.)

You've just explained the rationale for Hillary to do every possible thing in her power to seek the Vice Presidential spot. That might even mean talking sweet to Obama before the convention, if she thinks it will significantly help her chances.

What if the Presidential candidate had a fatal flaw come out before the election? The party would naturally turn towards the second place vote-getter, or the VP candidate, since that person would become President if something fatal (physically or politically) happened AFTER the election. If the second-placer and the VP candidate are one and the same, you guarantee party unity.

It's obvious why corn prices have gone up so much this year!

Very interesting.

Just in case you're interested, Old Sarge. This may not be news to you.

Wonder if there's any direct connection between him and Huma?

If one really wants to be lawyerly about this, I'd say that a candidate certifying a slate of electors is one thing, and a candidate dropping out later is another thing. If the candidate drops out, is the slate of electors still valid and certified? Can people vote for that slate regardless of the disposition of the candidate, knowing that the slate is free to choose once being sent to the Electoral College?

I'd say that it's the slate of electors that is specifically being chosen in Washington state, not the candidate, who may or may not still be in the race. Remember how Bob Beckel tried to get one elector to flip for Gore in 2000? I'm sure the Clintons will try every argument at their disposal.

Amen to that. I think that she has learned some hard lessons here, maybe she will become human...wouldn't that be something.

With Hillary in town you could get a room with her and admire her from close up.

Sheesh!

She's staying in because if she doesn't win, she wants to make sure Obama doesn't either.

Maybe she figures her chances of being protected are better with McCain.

As soon as I saw “Politico” associated with some of these reports, I knew it was a sham put forward by Obama. That place has no credibility with me after what they did to various candidates during the GOP primaries.

It seems that in the MSM’s fervor to support Obama, they are willingly reporting anything his campaign wants them to. And, due to the hatred of the Clintons by those on the right everyone here was more than willing to accept these rumors as truth (we all need to remember this is the MSM we are talking about and as much as we’d LIKE/LOVE for it to be true that she was done for, anything reported by the MSM should be taken with a grain of salt).

If there is one thing Hillary is not, it’s a quitter... There is a lot that could happen between now and August - meaning she could definitely still get the nomination. As long as she has ANY chance at ALL, I don’t see her bowing out, frankly.
