The United States is operating "floating prisons" to house those arrested in its war on terror, according to human rights lawyers, who claim there has been an attempt to conceal the numbers and whereabouts of detainees.
Details of ships where detainees have been held and sites allegedly being used in countries across the world have been compiled as the debate over detention without trial intensifies on both sides of the Atlantic. The US government was yesterday urged to list the names and whereabouts of all those detained.
“I strongly oppose holding terror suspects on prison ships”
So do I. My idea would be to dump them all in the laps of these “Human Rights Lawyers” We’ll soon know how much the mouthpieces want to be in their defense after their homes have been burned to the ground and their mothers and sisters have been raped and murdered for showing too much ankle.
LOL! Well said. muslims are pretty much the dirtbags of the planet. There's not a more violent animal on the planet.
Walk the plank, murderous, lowlife, muslim-islamic-arab terrorists! DIE, me harties!
Of course we’re using prison ships. You have any clue how hard it is to set up for a proper keelhauling in a dirtside prison yard?
“Do we even know this is true?
If it is, wouldnt it just make water boarding easier?”
****
Well, the Guardian has been known to grasp for straws just to make us look bad.
And yes, waterboarding is just part of the process, but I prefer to get rid of those scum with a kick in the back in shark-infested waters so they can meet their 72 virgins.
"Great Expectations"
USS Peleliu and ships like this, have very small brigs.
I have been on a lot of these ships when I was in the Navy, they would only hold them there if they thought they needed to have them close to the battlefield.
For example, the prisoner says he knows where a bomb cache is. They then fly in a strike team but they can’t find the bomb cache.
In the ultimate convenience of having the prisoner close, they could even fly him to the site.
Can’t do this if the prisoner was all the way back in the states.
These newspaper articles make no sense, they hold prisoners for good reason on these ships. Otherwise, they are too small to hold but a few people at a time.
If I remember right, USS Peleliu only could hold 3 people comfortable in their brig.
It isn’t a prison ship, it only has a small jail. Papers are completely off the mark.
What does the Geneva Convention have to do with this? These detainees are not sodiers fighting in the armed forces of any country. They don't wear uniforms, wear any insignia, have ranks or a chain of command. They don't wear their arms openly, and they don't try to avoid civilian casualties. Even if Al Qaeda were a country, it never ratified the Geneva Conventions nor does it abide by the rules in the Geneva Conventions.
Terrorists are illegal combatants and should be treated with no more respect than spies, saboteurs, or pirates. Therefore I am outraged they are being housed on ships. They should be made to walk the plank in shark infested waters.
I'm going to miss GWB.

Keel-haul ‘em.
Somehow, I can't bring myself to give a damn about the terrorists somewhere floating on a big boat.
*snort* I just posted that! Hubby says that all the time, I wondered where he got it!
I was corrected. Samuel Johnson but maybe Chrchill repeated it.
Whatever made you think there were Geneva Convention protections for terrorists?
If they have them on ship, and that's a big if, then they should throw them rag heads overboard! I think they will enjoy their 72 vegans when they get to allahland!
