HENRY POOLE is HERE is a comedic drama about a disillusioned man who goes hiding in placid suburbia only to discover he cannot escape the forces of hope. Returning to the middleclass neighborhood where he grew up, Henry chooses to live in indulgent isolation. Real life, however, refuses to cooperate with his plans. Nosy neighbors interrupt him with curious visits and prying questions. Then the situation escalates as a stain on Henry's stucco wall is seen to have miraculous powers. His last-ditch hideout becomes a shrine; his backyard turns into an arena for passionate debate about faith and destiny. Seeking anonymous oblivion, cynical Henry Poole instead finds himself right at the center of the human comedy. A modern-day fable, director Mark Pellington's new film investigates the unexpected wonders of the everyday.
Sounds good.
Thanks for the heads up....the trailer looks good, I like Luke Wilson it will make a good date night movie for my husband and I...
Or a woman kicking a guy in the testicles. Funny stuff.
Yes, it’s quite odd what’s been passing for comedy in Hollywood the last few years.
Last night on TMC I watched the original Angels in the Outfield with Paul Douglas and Janet Leigh. A wonderful combination of baseball and faith. Hard to believe that Holywood once made films like that.
You might find this movie worthwhile.
The trailer is very nice.
I think it looks like a very enjoyable movie.
Although I haven't seen the movie, a Christian movie would focus in faith in Jesus Christ, not "faith in life". It may be a great movie, but there have been too many movies sold as Christian movies that have nothing to do with Christ.
I saw the trailer for this movie on the “Ultimate Trailer Show”. It looked pretty interesting.
Thanks for the ‘heads up’.....I’ll check it out.
I saw this movie yesterday. It is a gem and very Christian. The ensemble cast is very good. The script is generally good. The production values are professional.
I’ve read the producer had a religious conversion and this movie is a result of that. It shows.
The movie does not pit religion against science. There is a secular explanation for everything in the movie but it does show that secular explanations are not enough that there is something better.
The movie is about a man who has given himself up to despair when his neighbor, Esperanza, comes to the front door.(!) What follows is an often comedic but a genuinely human exploration of how disbelief confronts the miraculous.
Sadly, there were few others in the theater. This will be a very short run movie.
