[Clinton advisor] Harold Ickes' parting shot suggests more Democratic turmoil
The Los Angeles Times ^ | May 31, 2008 | Don Frederick

Maybe it will prove an idle threat.

But as the Democratic rules committee ended its lengthy meeting today in Washington today with a decision on the Michigan primary that left Hillary Clinton's campaign irate, the words from one of her chief strategists have to haunt party leaders striving for elusive unity.

"Mrs. Clinton has instructed me to reserve her rights to take this to the credentials committee," Harold Ickes said.

The rules panel, which Ickes serves on, achieved its goal of resolving one of the party's two disputed primaries -- the Florida contest -- in a way that Ickes and other Clinton loyalists indicated they could live with. And combined with the more contentious action on the Michigan vote, the result was to put Barack Obama on the cusp of securing the number of convention delegates needed to soon declare himself the presidential nominee-in-waiting.

But Ickes' admonition on Michigan means that the Clinton camp has not signed off on the new "magic" number: 2,118 delegates. And that means any claim by Obama to be the presumptive nominee will carry an asterisk -- perhaps all the way to the late-August convention in Denver.

It has been wonderful watching that evil shrew shoot herself in the foot when she was finally allowed to improvise - just as all the FReepers said she would.

Once she could no longer be paraded in front of fawning, obsequious crowds of Clintonistas with carefully scripted 'interviews' and choreographed appearances, she was sure to say something stupid.

Sure enough, the batteries ran out of the teleprompter and she had to improvise, and nobody could have ever predicted just how bad a whopper this shrew would spout. Completely unbelievable. Indefensible and inexcusable.

The only possible way to appease her, might be to give her Harry Reid’s spot in the senate.

Icky Ickes is a terribly nasty man. Of all the Clinton butt boys (and in his case, I mean figuratively and literally), he is perhaps the worst.

He would cut your throat without even thinking about it.

I agree 100% - Ickes is as vile a shill as they come. Everytime I see him speak, I think of Martin Short's 'sleazeball lawyer' character Nathan Thurm.

I wish that they would have a war among themselves and wipe each other out.

If I had my way, EVERY picture of him in the MSM archives would be replaced with the mugshot from his booking on drunk driving charges a few weeks ago. Have you seen it?

She's still got a shot at VP. Now the Drivebys are talking about it. Bubba's asking for it now too.

Obama would have to be mad to take her on as a VP, but the ticket would probably represent the Dem's only chance.

Gaffer,

How about Emanuel, and the gum shoe Palidino who's other half I can't remember. These folks make Lee Atwater look like a choir boy.

Yes, brain fart....

Sorry, that should have been "Yes, (I had a) brain fart..."

Obviously never meant what it could be construed as meaning.

Well, come to think of it, can you think of ever a more nasty vile group of people ever surrounding a pair like Bill and Hillary? It would certainly seem the antithesis of another event in the history, the coming together of our founding fathers. This event being what I truly believe was orchestrated by God.

How about the folks surrounding Obama? Anyone who would support that cut-and-run Socialist has a few screws loose, to say the least.

You can say that again!
Especially in light of her incredibly stupid, yet highly revealing RFK comment.

I knew that this stupid, cackling, loudmouthed lout would say something stupid sooner or later, but I could not have ever dreamed that it would as stupid as this riposte!

Simply unbelievable. The press can try to peddle this as an innocent aside, but it was a purely evil thing to mention.
