So, beachy, how'd you like that??
I compose a few thoughts, hit Post, and the message before mine says, "Should I cheat?"
Well, no need to even bother 'cause you know it's already too late.

Our pastor told us that he has excused himself from political discussions. Either that, or he will go out the room and take off his clerical collar before saying one thing about either party.
The only time I ever heard him say anything about politics was at a non religious event. He was in shorts and tee shirt - the only time I ever saw him like that and the only comment he made was:
“I don’t understand how anyone can go to church on Sunday and vote for a democrat on the following Tuesday.”
It’s not hard to know which party he supports, but that discussion was about partial birth abortion, which he (and I) abhor to no end.
Believe me, if someone would plant microphones in many churches, a number of them would loose their tax exempt status, as well they should.

tanniker, have you ever noticed in the mornings like this GB just happens to show up just BEFORE the next 50?
I think I'm going to hold back on giving her a woo hoo this morning. Maybe I'll feel more generous next week???

You Pastor has a lot of sense. Outside of church he’s allowed to express his opinion like anyone else.
But, not from the pulpit.
So, kudos to your Pastor.

Well, the Air Force did have warrant officers until the middle to late 70’s. I actually saw one of the last WO’s when I was in Tech School.
If you recall, the traditions of the USAF came from the Army Air Corps, and the Air Corps traditions from the Army.
A warrant officer in the Army right before and during WWII was really a specialist in a certain field. They had lots of time in service.
Not sure, but I think the AF wanted to establish the senior enlisted ranks without the “gray area” between officers and enlisted. Possibly it also went toward the separation of the AF and the Army tradition wise.

Thanks for the comment. FWIW, he celebrated 50 years as a LCMS pastor last September, so he is from the “old school” of clergy.
