In an interview yesterday with the San Francisco Chronicle, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi claimed the U.S. troop surge failed to accomplish its goal. She then partially credited the success of the troop surge to “the goodwill of the Iranians,” claiming that they were responsible for ending violence in the southern city of Basra.
Asked if she saw any evidence of the surge’s positive impact on her May 17 trip to Iraq she responded:
Well, the purpose of the surge was to provide a secure space, a time for the political change to occur to accomplish the reconciliation. That didn’t happen. Whatever the military success, and progress that may have been made, the surge didn’t accomplish its goal. And some of the success of the surge is that the goodwill of the Iranians-they decided in Basra when the fighting would end, they negotiated that cessation of hostilities-the Iranians.
This is an inexcusable slander.

Better yet, I think Nancy Pelosi should travel to Iraq and tell our troops -- face to face -- what she has said here.
But, of course, that will never happen.
She hasn't got the guts to do that.

Just shaking my head in disbelief that the American people look poised to put these same people in power of all three branches of our government!
I don’t know the full content of your deleted post (just saw part of it quoted in a reply) but there’s no doubt that we are moving closer to, rather than farther away from, a civil or revolutionary war by the day. Elected officials no longer represent the interests of the people or the country. Some day the people will take back the country....and it won’t be pretty.

Well folks, elections have consequences. Perhaps all those who plan to sit out the November election should consider what it would be like to have 70% majorities in the House and Senate and a Democrat President for eight years.
Unbelievable. Well, maybe not. She`s a lib so it is believable she would say something like that. I`m beginning to wonder what planet she is from.
Maybe she should meet with the members of the Iraqi National Assembly and get lessons from them on HOW TO GET THINGS DONE.
The surge WAS an overwhelming success. No debate on that point. This cowardly administration and Republicans in Congress have squandered a great opportunity to absolutely destroy these dems over this issue. McCain however will not cede this issue. But he needs help. One person can’t do it alone and we all know McCain’s questionable abilities to fight dems.
