Want to bet that she has never created or run a business of any sort ?
These people think that you just hang up a shingle, and the money rolls in.
In my career there was never a paid vacation or a paid sick day. In fact, the old saying was “you don’t call in sick, you call in dead.”
Required health care, required sick leave....what’s next? required they all get a bonus? Where does it end?
Be sure to ping me when they pass the everyone gets a free (Rollls|Bently|Aston Martin|Ferrari|MB|Porche|BWM} law.
Is there going to be a limit on how many paid days off you get?
How about day laborers? Do they get sick pay?
What about temporary or contract workers?
Expect to see businesses “compensate” by reducing PTO accrual rates accordingly. So, yeah, you get your 10 sick days, but your three weeks of Paid time Off is now just one.
Also, expect to see a WHOLE lot of folks taking “sick days” around seasonal holidays.
“Yeah, boss, that flu was a real drag; kept me out all week long. On the up side, I’ve got 600 pounds of fresh elk in my freezers.”
“Yeah, boss, it was mono. Good thing it was mild or it’d ‘ve been a whole lot more than just two weeks. I had to go all the way to the Kenai River to find relief. Fortunately, it worked wonders for me. You like salmon??”

You’re right. According to her page on Wikipedia, she went straight from college (degree in “taxation”!) to politics, and has gotten donations from some fishy sources, including the infamous Paw family of Daly City (associates of Norman Hsu).

“you dont call in sick, you call in dead’
I always tell people when they ask me when I’m going to retire; I expect I’ll take a half day off from work for my funeral and be back to work in the afternoon.
Government workers are so used to holidays, (Confederate Memorial Day for Texas DOT) sick pay that they can bank, vacations, and no pressure that they think we all must be entitled to that lifestyle. I can’t afford to run for Congrees, can’t take the pay cut - but how come they all get rich??
California is a lost cause. The U.S. should withdraw immediately.
“Where does it end?”
bankruptcy
“Liberalism is just Communism sold by the drink.”
P.J.O’Rourke
I am waiting for Kalifornia to just go bankrupt and they have to tell their state reps. go home and get a job.
Next Steps:
Pay them all a minimum of $100,000 per year. It reduces turnover costs.
Give them free healthcare with no deductibles. It makes for healthier employees and reduces healthcare costs. It also reduces time off the job which increases productivity.
Reduce the workweek to three, 7 hour days. This will increase their engagement which leads to increased profits.
Provide free lunches. This will reduce time away from the office and increase productivity.
Provide free transportation. This will save them money, become more engaged, and reduce your carbon taxes at the same time.
Aint socialism great??!!!
With a 20 hour work week for 40 hours pay. Three month vacation, preferably June thru August. All holidays off, with pay, including Ground Hogs day and of course, Cinco de Mayo. And guaranteed employment for life no layoffs or firings.
Let’s look at the brighter side of this.
* Housing prices in Las Vegas are going to rebound.
* California’s power generation and grid capacity will become adequate.
* Out of state tourists like me and Mrs. Tick won’t have to put up with all those darn local granola heads vacationing in OUR favorite spots.
* The number of Congressional seats allocated to California liberals will decrease
Every ignorant liberal cloud has a silver lining
Well, there will be a lot of lay offs coming. To keep the employee count low. God, I am glad I moved from that state.
Hi, Boss. I won't be in today. My wife yelled at me for not taking out the garbage.
