The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James 5:16
In joy and obedience, we pray for President Bush. We know that You have begun a work in his life and that You will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus. God of peace, sanctify him completely; and may his whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We know that You who calls him is faithful, and You also will do it. We trust You, Father, to give him Your wisdom and skill in performing his responsibilities as our President. Teach him to cast all his cares on You so that he can be refreshed and ready for whatever comes his way.
Thank You again, Sir, for all the people You have called to protect us. They are gifts from You, and we are grateful. We pray for all of our service men and women, whether in harms way, preparing for harms way or serving those in harms way. Give them supernatural vision to see trouble coming before it is here, and be an enemy to their enemies. Give them whatever they need to be a success at that to which they are setting their hand, be it weapons, protective armor, housing, food, water or, most importantly, Your Word. Bring them home to their loved ones healed in body and spirit and soul with a clear mission for the rest of their lives.
Add to the numbers of Your people in our country, Lord of the Harvest. Help us to live for You each moment of each day and boldly declare, Jesus is Lord.
We pray in Jesus name.
Amen.
Let us rejoice before the God Who has blessed us.
Unto You, O Lord, we lift up our beloved President and pray that he will continually walk in Your ways. Guard him with the Heavenly Host that no harm would come near. Let not any word spoken entice him away from the tasks You have set before him ... let others be put to shame and repentance when they try to put him down and raise themselves up. May we stand in the gap for the enemies of this country, that they would seek the cleansing Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, for You are not willing that any should perish.
May it be soon, Lord God, that our beloved troops would begin to return ... confident and assured that Iraq and Afghanistan emerge as freedom-loving nations. Bring them home in victory to a country deeply grateful for every sacrifice from every son and daughter who has gone forth. We rejoice with those who rejoice ... we mourn with those who mourn. Whether in rejoicing or in mourning, may we Bless the Name of the Lord.
Our beloved country is in such need, Ruler of All Nations. Be attentive to the cries of Your people ... we plead that You take not Your hand of mercy from us but overwhelm us by the Power of the Holy Spirit ... bring us to total repentance for Your Name's Sake. May wisdom and discernment be ours as we select our leaders ... reveal all the lies and deceit that we would choose wisely and well.
We pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. No matter the administration, may we always be at her side, for therein is blessing to our nation.
This day, O Lord, we seek Your face. All Glory, Honor, and Praise be Yours, both now and forevermore, Amen ...
That initial view of Lady Liberty was excitingand emotional. They had just endured an arduous 11-day journey across the sea on a no-frills voyage. They had left many friends and family members behind in The Netherlands. They had experienced rough seas brought on by a hurricane and had dealt with seemingly endless seasickness. But nowfinallythey had arrived. They were home!
Someday those of us who have trusted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior will leave this life and go to the place He has prepared for us (John 14:3). The journey may be difficult or uncomfortable, but we certainly look forward to the final destination.
Composer Don Wyrtzen wrote the music for a wonderful song that pictures our earthly life as a tempestuous sea. It ends with these words:

Thank You for this Place of Fellowship, Your Majesty our King. Be High and Lifted Up Forever, Lord Jesus! Be Eternally Adored, Magnified, and Praised!
