PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland police officers have asked for an apology after they said organizers of a Barack Obama rally set up Porta-Potties on a memorial honoring fallen officers.
Earlier this month, 75,000 people gathered in Waterfront Park in downtown Portland to hear Obama speak at a pre-primary rally.
Officer Thomas Brennan, a seven-year veteran with the Portland Police Bureau, said he was happy to help at the rally after being called in on his day off.
"On short notice, a lot of people had to cancel trips. But they were glad to do it," Brennan said. "It was very memorable, in more ways than one."
Brennan, who controlled the crowd near the Portland Police Memorial, noticed several Porta Potties set up in the middle of the memorial. Brennan had been at the site five days earlier for an annual memorial service and a flag was still set at half mast on the day of the rally.
"There was plenty of room elsewhere so space wasn't an issue," Brennan said. "So someone used some really poor decision making, whoever elected to put them there. I mean, it's somewhat hallowed ground, I guess you could call it."
After several days, Brennan attached a photo he took to a letter and e-mailed it to dozens of media outlets and the Obama campaign.
Brennan said officers haven't heard back from the Obama campaign. He said someone owes an apology to the families of the fallen officers.
"Not for a moment do I think that Mr. Obama had anything to do with this," Brennan said. "But somebody at his campaign at a local level made the decision to put them there. And I just want an acknowledgement: 'Hey, we made a mistake.'"
A representative with the Obama campaign responded Wednesday morning and said the Porta-Potties were placed at the memorial because of a safety issue for wheelchair access.
Teri Sorenson said there was no disrespect intended and the campaign had not responded because local offices have shut down until Obama becomes the official democratic candidate
They didnt see it and or recognize it because they suck.It is/was transparent to them.....they just dont get it

Everyone in Obamamama’s entourage seems to continually display poor judgment and anti-American sentiment, except Obamarama himself, if you believe the media. I would hate to see how the Oval Office (and the nation) would get trashed during an Obama presidency.

Since Teri was on the phone, perhaps she could have offered acknowledgement that it was improper.
I’m suprrised they bothered to use the Porta-Potty and didn’t just write “Free Mumia” on the Stone in whiz.
If it’d been a soldier’s memorial, they’d have just skipped the porta-potties and relieved themselves on it directly, I’m sure.
The only mistake they made was mistaking a police memorial for an Armed Services memorial. Otherwise, without an apology, it appears their intentions were spot on.

Actually 500 went to see nObama, the other 74,500 went to see the free concert.
If The Racist Obama gets elected, you might as well put a giant porta-potty over this country because we all will be shat upon every single day.

You know what would be disgusting?...If a sitting President received oral sex in the Oval Office...could you imagine if that happened? This Country would go absolutely nuts and would probably throw the bum who did that out of office for desicrating the greatest office in the WORLD...
I couldn’t imagine if they let that President off the hook...totally unimaginable...
One can't help but wonder if any of the Porta-Potties were handicap-designed. If not, I doubt there was much if any need for accessiblity.
I don’t really care what the Obama Campaign personnel state as the reason they set up Porta-Potties on the Police Memorial site. There is NO EXCUSE, NO REASON other than blatant disrespect. The site would have been immediately recognized as what it is, hallowed ground by ANY decent citizen with any morals/conscience whatsoever.
This disrespectful action reflects on Obama IMO, as the sorts that would support him to become their/our leader in our WH made the decision to demean that Memorial site.
I wouldn’t let the matter ride on the local level. I’d take it straight to Obama to demand he rein in his disgusting supporters attitude towards our Nation, and our Nation’s fallen heroes. HE is the Captain of his ship of fools, and it is HIS responsibility to show respect, lead with respect, and demand the respect for HIS, and OUR Nation and all Memorials local or National.
I think this is fitting for the Dimorats, considering this is they way they treat our military.
