DNC: Fla., Mich. Can't Be Fully Restored By AP/NEDRA PICKLER

(WASHINGTON) — A Democratic Party rules committee has the authority to seat some delegates from Michigan and Florida but not fully restore the two states as Hillary Rodham Clinton wants, according to party lawyers.

Democratic National Committee rules require that the two states lose at least half of their convention delegates for holding elections too early, the party's legal experts wrote in a 38-page memo.

The memo was sent late Tuesday to the 30 members of the party's Rules and Bylaws Committee, which plans to meet Saturday at a Washington hotel. The committee is considering ways to include the two important general election battlegrounds at the nominating convention in August, and the staff analysis says seating half the delegates is "as far as it legally can" go.

Saturday's meeting is expected to draw a large crowd, with Clinton supporters among those encouraging a protest outside demanding that all the states' delegates be seated. Proponents of full reseating have mailed committee members Florida oranges and pairs of shoes to get their attention.

DNC officials are concerned about a potentially large turnout at the "Count Every Vote" rally outside the event and have asked the hotel staff to increase security to keep everyone safe. The DNC says the roughly 500 seats available to the public inside were taken within three or four minutes of becoming available online Tuesday.

The DNC’s 50% solution appears to piss off 100% of the voters.

“Proponents of full reseating have mailed committee members Florida oranges and pairs of shoes to get their attention.”

If that doesn’t work, throw the shoes at them. Sen. Clinton must sue Howard Dean and the DNC...LOL.

How many Democrat voters crossed over to vote in the Republican primaries in Florida and Michigan because there “was no state Democrat presidential primary” in Michigan and Florida?

I'm sure they will explain in detail how seating half the delegates is legal under the bylaws. LOL at them.

I can understand sending committee members Florida oranges, but what are the pairs of shoes for?

I heard that they were black loafers from Detroit.

Where they gonna get 'em from?

There are no more dems in politics: the last democrats in DC were Zell and Braught = (sp?) and to some extent, Joe L. = the democrat party has now, successfully and completely, been infiltrated and usurped by the

and the

They are card-carrying members.

It's past time to so refer to them - wake up the sheeple

I don’t believe the rationale that the DNC is scared of an upcoming rally and this is why they are agreeing to seat some of the delegates at this late stage. No it’s much more likely that now that everyone agress that Obama has won the thing, they are scrambling to make nice with the Florida and Michigan voters.

The Democrat voters in Florida are particularly peeved because they feel like they are the victims of Republican shenanigans. A fairly successful media campaign by Democrat agitators has led them to believe that moving the date was out of their control and the DNC is punishing them for something someone else did. Getting significantly less media coverage is the fact that many leading Democrats in the State actually supported moving the date.

Ultimately, their own agitators will be the ones to blame if the DNC cannot convince Democrat voters in Florida to rally behind their nominee.

the Democrats made the rules, the Democrats can change the rules. They do it all the time - especially when the Clinton hencemen/women are running things.

People still voted, it is the Democrat mantra that every vote must count. In Florida 2000, the Democrats wanted to toss out all the rules to the higher principle of having every vote count. So why not let every vote count in this case?

What is Hillary’s goal? I know she still wants the nomination, or maybe Veep, but what exactly can she hope to gain by all of this? Even if she got all the delegates based on the sham elections in those states ,she would still not have enough to change the outcome of the nomination. Is she taking Rush’s Operation Chaos to heart, and thinking if she stirs things up, anything can happen?????

Count all the votes!

They've been counted. They just are no good -- because the rules say so.

But, in true demo fashion -- "The rules don't apply to me!!!!!"
