Wow! If this is the first time that most of us thought of him as a potential Vice Presidential candidate than his chances from McCain are slim to none. I like Hunter ALOT and was my first choice...yes Romney was always second choice. But the question McCain is asking himself is can Hunter give him the state of California and that is a probable no. I am sure that is one of the reasons we do not hear his name out there.

Mcloon wants to obliterate the border and allow tens of millions of illegals to flood in unchecked.

Duncan Hunter is somewhat opposed to that idea I believe.

I don’t think he would put up with running beside the Mcloonatic just to be Veep.

Why would a Baker Globalist give a Reaganite the chance? And why would the Reaganite forgo principle for such a Faustian bargain?

The two are diametrically opposed.

John McCain would never choose an anti-immigrant extremist like Hunter for his VP.

"He is a perfect conservative, an unimpeachable example of how to maintain Reagan's principles in a post-Reagan era"

From the article...

So I ask you, is this not on point as to why this ticket wouldn't happen and wouldn't work if it did?

How different Duncan Hunter is from John McCain!!

My list w/reasons:

Fred Thompson—strongest federalist, strong on immigration, WOT, Social Security

JC Watts—true conservative & antidote to Obamanism

Duncan Hunter—Strong on immigration, WOT

Steve King—look him up, you’ll be impressed, Midwestern

Jim DeMint—VERY conservative!

Haley Barbour—Hero of Katrina, competent, executive experience, ran RNC, good lever puller

General David Petraeus—OBVIOUS

Steve Forbes—Economic knowledge w/o Mitt’s baggage, Flat Tax

Sheriff Joe Arpaio—strongest anti-illegal official in USA

Bobby Jindal—10 years executive experience, still young, “next Ronald Reagan” says Rush.

John McCain and Duncan Hunter don’t agree on anything. The Dems would exploit that in attack ads.

Either it will be Duncan Hunter or Micheal Steele.

Nice thought but, if I were Hunter, I'd tell McQueeg to go butt a stump.

Conflicting ideology.

I’ll write Hunter in for President. I won’t vote for a RINO.

McCain wants someone that agrees with him. Hunter is diametrically opposed to the illegal criminal invasion of this nation. That alone rules him out.

“If McCain wants to ensure his election in November, he must seriously consider offering the VP slot to Hunter.”

Are you convinced McCAin wants to win? I’m not. He certainly doesn’t want to be a president to conservatives.

I'd rather see him as SecDef than VP.

Unfortunately, Duncan didn't do well enough in the primaries to warrant a serious look for the VP slot. However--Michael Medved was talking about Hunter running for governor of CA. Now THAT would be interesting...

Sometimes a cute title can be just too clever.

I don't know if this one would have been any better:

Duncan Hunter may bring a few conservative true believers to McCain. Unfortunately, he doesn't bring McCain anyone who isn't a conservative true believer, and there are a lot more people who aren't than who are.
