Mitt Romney. Charlie Crist. Bobby Jindal. Mike Huckabee. Weve heard these names as possible running mates for John McCain. However, theres another name that should be on this listand its ridiculous that his name hasnt been offically suggested yet.
Not so long ago, California Congressman Duncan Hunter was seen as the true conservative choice for the Republican nomination. Hunter had served the country with honor during his 27-year tenure in the House of Representatives, working tirelessly to advance conservative principles and remaining loyal to the Reagan vision.
Unfortunately, Hunter was unable to conquer his competitors for the Republican nomination. Despite gaining support from prominent conservative commentators and bloggers, Hunter was forced out of the race in January.
However, the closed door of the Presidency couldand should--lead to the open window of the Vice Presidency. If McCain wants to ensure his election in November, he must seriously consider offering the VP slot to Hunter.

What an intelligent person would say: A traitor to the republic and a globaloniast like MacCain would never pick a patriot who still believes in US sovereignity and is unwilling to lick the boots of the masters of the new world order.
Not their homes, dude. Their homes remain wherever they illegally snuck in from. But, since you feel sovreignity is unimportant, leave your name, address and phone number and we'll send any interested squatters to your house and they can eat from your Refrigerator, sleep in your bed and molest your wife at will. Then, when you call the police, they can just tell you that you'll have to just let them live in your house because it's their home.
“If McCain wants to ensure his election in November, he must seriously consider offering the VP slot to Hunter.”
Are you convinced McCAin wants to win? I’m not. He certainly doesn’t want to be a president to conservatives.
“John McCain would never choose an anti-immigrant extremist like Hunter for his VP.”
You know why? Because of the big fat lies like the one you just told.
Anti-immigrant? Hardly. In fact he’s been more compassionate to illegal aliens than you probably have been. Have you ever gone to that desert and given water to the dying ones? He has.
If you can’t post accurately, you shouldn’t bother...oh, I forgot, you’re a McCAin guy....without dishonesty you have nothing.
“Calling for the expulsion of millions of people from their homes is extremism”
NOT THEIR HOMES, Antonio! That’s the part you miss, the USA is NOT their home!
“Dude. Youre yelling at a corpse. ;)”
LOL! Me too! But I enjoyed it, was it good for you?
Are we talking about McCain here?
"It's dead, Jim".
So...who gets to claim his McCain goodie bag? Kent would seem to have first dibs since he set up the ZOT.
Border security hot topic for candidates in 52nd district

Border security was a signature issue of longtime U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, and many of the candidates running to replace him in the 52nd U.S. Congressional District this year are trying to seize on it as well.
The Republicans competing in the June 3 primary Duncan D. Hunter, Brian Jones, Rick L. Powell and Bob Watkins are out to prove they’re serious about cracking down on illegal immigration.
And the tough talk isn’t limited to Republicans. Democratic candidates Mike Lumpkin and Vickie Butcher said they also would tighten border security.
In a poll taken last month of 400 voters likely to cast ballots in the Republican primary for the 52nd District seat, illegal immigration slightly edged out cutting taxes, eliminating wasteful spending and winning the war on terror as the top concern.
The survey was done by Santa Monica-based Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin & Associates and paid for by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. Democrats were not surveyed.
Statewide, though, people aren’t as concerned about immigration issues as they were a few years ago. Of 2,003 Californians surveyed by the Public Policy Institute of California in May, 36 percent reported jobs and the economy as their top concerns, 15 percent said gasoline prices, 8 percent said education and 7 percent said immigration and illegal immigration. In April 2006, immigration and illegal immigration were the biggest concerns among Californians 27 percent surveyed by the same San Francisco-based nonpartisan institute.
Before it was redrawn in 2001, the 52nd District stretched to the U.S.-Mexico border. Today, it covers parts of San Diego, and much of northeastern San Diego County and East County. Forty-four percent of the district’s voters are registered Republicans, while 31 percent are Democrats.
Rep. Hunter has been pushing for the construction of a border fence since the mid-1990s. This year, he sponsored a bill to construct at least 700 miles of a two-layered fence along the border and install lighting, cameras and sensors.
All four Republicans are pushing the familiar issue of lengthening the border fence. The U.S. Border Patrol already plans to extend the 32 miles of primary border fence in San Diego County by 14 miles and lengthen the nearly 10 miles of secondary fence by four miles. An agency spokesman said he didn’t have estimates when the work would be completed. The border stretches along 66 miles of San Diego County.
Duncan D. Hunter, 31, son of the current congressman, is mailing a campaign brochure to Republicans across the district focused mostly on illegal immigration. In it, he describes himself as the candidate we trust to get the fence built.
Jones, 39, said he would consider using active or reserve military to control the border. Watkins, 65, would work to seal the border using a lengthened fence and beefed-up Border Patrol. He said he also would consider sanctions against employers who hire illegal immigrants and temporary guest worker programs. Powell, 60, says he, too, would tighten border security and look at temporary worker programs.
Asked how they would accomplish the reforms if an incoming president even a fellow Republican disagreed or was unreceptive, Powell and Jones said they would try to take the president on a tour of the border to show the extent of the problem.
Jones said if that failed: We’re just going to have to gear up for a fight.
Hunter, meanwhile, said he would insert an earmark into a defense spending bill, if necessary, to fund a border fence and other items.
Watkins said states might have to take the lead.
All four said they support keeping the California National Guard on the border beyond its scheduled departure on June 1.
Neither Lumpkin, 43, nor Butcher, 66, would extend the guard’s mission. Lumpkin said he would use a mixture of an extended border fence, technology and other means to secure the border, while Butcher advocates hiring more Border Patrol agents and improving the quality of identification materials.
Libertarian candidate Michael Benoit, 57, said he would withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq and reassign them to the U.S.-Mexico border.
Quotes: immigration and border security
52nd Congressional District candidates speak out:
Libertarian Michael Benoit: Stop all social services to anyone not here in the U.S. legally as well as reassign America(n) troops from the borders of Iraq to our southern border.
Democrat Vickie Butcher: We must responsibly secure our borders and follow the law, and strengthen the existing system, with more money and more people.
Republican Duncan D. Hunter: When it comes to any immigration program, or guest worker program, we have to secure the border first.
Republican Brian Jones: Securing the border as soon as possible is one of my top priorities by whatever means necessary . . . I would support using the military, active duty, National Guard or reserves to support the Border Patrol on a temporary basis until the border is secure.
Democrat Mike Lumpkin: If you’re sailing a boat from San Diego to Hawaii and the boat has a huge leak, you fix the hole before you worry about the course. We need to control the flow of people, and meet our national security needs, then talk about how to handle comprehensive immigration reform and pathways to citizenship.”
Republican Rick L. Powell: I support the border fence because that is the only thing that is stopping the mass of people that are going across.
Republican Bob Watkins: We can’t build walls high enough to solve the problem, but before we can do anything else about immigration, we have to show the American public we can control our borders.
“Unfortunately, Duncan didn’t do well enough in the primaries to warrant a serious look for the VP slot.”
He beat McCain for the first few months, until the media anointed him. He beat the crap out of Brownback the entire way, but Brownback was invited to the weekend VP summit.
Geez, I’m all broke up about it. Wait a sec, here comes a tear.
Tick tock, tick tock. (you still waiting?)
Go D2!!
McCain is not so oblivious to reality that he doesn’t realize who Hunter was talking about when he referred to “THE KENNEDY WING OF THE GOP”. McCain is more likely to select a democrat for VP than a conservative.
Sometimes a cute title can be just too clever.
I don't know if this one would have been any better:
Duncan Hunter may bring a few conservative true believers to McCain. Unfortunately, he doesn't bring McCain anyone who isn't a conservative true believer, and there are a lot more people who aren't than who are.
