Williams has 11 years of fundraising experience she can bring to the museum for planning, developing and maintaining a comprehensive fundraising program.
However, they come at a price.
Williams spent the past seven years as the director of development for Planned Parenthood of Collier County Inc, where she ostensibly raised money for the destruction of unborn children the museum could have served.
The irony of the hire was not lost on Jill Stanek, a leading pro-life spokeswoman who called the move "a major career 180 if I ever saw one."
"At first I thought this must be a natural history museum, preserving for posterity the memory of these small endangered created," Stanek quipped after hearing the news. "In some countries, like Russia, they're all but extinct. But no."
Though the new museum won't open until Spring 2009, Stanek says "it has hired the equivalent of a Nazi prison guard to raise funds for the Holocaust museum."
Stanek says there is a further irony: the interior of the new museum has a Noah theme -- "a reminder that only a few survive?"
"The board has to be stocked with pro-aborts," Stanek concludes in a commentary on her blog. "Otherwise there is just no way they would have hired Williams. But hey, they've picked a fundraiser who has learned from the best."
Williams will assist the Childrens Museum of Naples board of directors with its capital campaign as well as grant writing and direct special fundraising projects.
Neither museum director Joe Cox nor board president Julie Koster responded to requests from LifeNews.com for comment.
