My grandfather marched in Pattons army, but I cannot know what it is to walk into battle like so many of you, he told a small group of veterans here
Obama also spoke about his uncle, who was part of the American brigade that helped to liberate Auschwitz.

“one of the first U.S. troops into Auschwitz” != “helped liberate Auschwitz”
yawn.
To: 353FMG
Maybe this is the Uncle he was talking about.

Okay, it was somewhere in Mof’ Germany. Also, did I mention
that he had to dodge sniper fire, too.

Does anyone know the name of Obama’s white grandfather?
That would be the father of his mother, right? (his maternal grandfather)
Would he be the right age to have been in WWII? I thought I saw a photo of Obama’s maternal grandparents, and I think the man was too young. My father was in WWII and he was born in 1916.

I just read the rest, I forgot, yes, it was the Soviets who liberated Auschwitz
Maybe he was going to say THE RED BALL EXPRESS or something since they were predominantly Black Americans...they actually did liberate a camp in Germany IIRC

Yes, that is the original quote. Not, the reporters interpretation of said quote.

Sure did. The inmates were firing at him. Didn’t know that, did ye?

Is there anything more loathsome than an America-hating Marxist cry baby trying to get credit for relatives who, if still alive, would beat the snot of this guy on general principles?

I do not believe this will bode well with his foreign policy. He is the “talk to everyone” candidate but statements like this will enrage our Russian ‘friends’
I’m not sure about everyone else, but this guy gives me the creeps.
I wish someone put that Democratic party out of its misery already, this is just getting too creepy

“It might have been Buchenwald or Dachau; Pattons Army liberated that area of Germany.
As the saying goes, Obama is close enough for government work.”
Also, the 3rd Armored Cavalry, Patton’s Ghost Troops, liberated the Ebensee camp in Austria also. Your second sentence above probably has it right.
All these gaffes aren’t important. What’s important is Senator Obama is a far-left liberal with whacky and dangerous ideas about how to govern America.
