THE PRESIDENT: It's been a pleasure of my presidency to get to know the leaders of Rolling Thunder. For our fellow citizens who don't know Rolling Thunder, Rolling Thunder is the moment in time here in Washington, on Memorial Day Weekend, when thousands of motorcyclers come to the nation's capital to pay tribute to those who have died in service, to those who sacrificed, and those who serve. And it's a magnificent sight.
We just choppered in, Artie, and saw your brothers and sisters cranking up their machines and driving through the nation's capital -- many of them have got the flag on the back. And I am just so honored to welcome you back. I want to thank you and all your comrades for being so patriotic and loving our country as much as you do. I think this is the -- I don't know if this is the eighth time we've been together here, but it's pretty close.
MR. Muller: Pretty close, sir - maybe one more.
THE PRESIDENT: Yes, one more. (Laughter.) Anyway, Artie is the main man and this is his board of directors who have continued to rally people around the country. I went to Greensburg, Kansas, Artie, and I came into a town that had been destroyed by a tornado -- I was going to give the high school graduation speech, and rode in from the airport and the motorcyclers were all lining the streets with the flags and it made me feel great. When people go to protest at the funeral of one of our brave soldiers that died in combat, Artie's folks are there to make sure that those protestors don't denigrate the moment.
So you're doing a lot for the country.
MR. MULLER: Thank you.
THE PRESIDENT: And our troops appreciate you, the veterans appreciate you and your President appreciates you.
MR. MULLER: Thank you, Mr. President.
THE PRESIDENT: Welcome.
Wonder if the MSM will ignore Rolling Thunder now? Probably,.. —**sigh**—
Thanks Rolling Thunder for your patriotism.
BTTT
holy smokes. what’s the head count there?
Welcome Home!
Fox reports estimated 350,000+
Yeah, that’s what I heard on Fox also.
I’m trying to visualize a president Obama welcoming Rolling Thunder. hmmm
Is this from this year?
The head count, tens of thousands, possibly over one million people.
It’s my first time attending and I have never seen anything like it. It’s a happening of patriotic proportions. Rolling Thunder coming down Independence Ave, loud, colors flying, many with riders, and the crowd on both sides of Independence. It is a unending collage of Remembrance Demanded for our dead and missing - past and present.
On the north side of Independence were thousands of more bikes and their riders. They are in addition to Rolling Thunder participants and they don’t join the parade. We only walked Independance from 20th to 17 St, three long blocks and saw only a small part of the total.
Next year we will be there early with friends who haven’t been. This is a very meaningful event in the Memorial Day weekend activities. Hope to see you there.
It is very well attended, with little media coverage of the friendly crowds who just happen to be from all over the United States.
This DC area native estimates one million or more.
Wonderful, Mr. President.
Now fix the Rules of Engagement to make sure that our brothers and sisters in combat can WIN without apology.
Thank you, Sir.
And...rut...roh...disappearing posts again.
shrillery and hussein obama could have appeared, but since they both are commies in disguise, nobody would give them an audience. These bikers love America! But the hilldobeast, the closet muslim and his America-hating wife would not be welcome...unless they were in handcuffs, and that may come to be...when we the people who love America wake up to the fact that we are losing out culture to home-grown enemies of Freedom!
Compare that photo to ANY event the unpatriotic liberals have ever attended.
Thank you President Bush for welcoming these patriots.
OK everybody, remember where you parked...
“I know exactly where I parked...I’m right by the American flag.”
Well that was an easy one :)
