Oh, no. We Catholics have been assured so many times that Hagee is a great guy and that McCain's pride in his endorsement (McCain stuck it up on his website and everything!) was nothing short of positively wonderful.
And the "Catholic Church is the Great Whore" stuff that Hagee spouts? Complete misunderstanding. Hagee actually called the RCC "The Great Snore" because the bingo games down at the local parish are so doggone boring.

No, I think this was probably the easiest way to deal with it. Hagee was not his “pastor,” anyway, and while I’m sure Hagee has a following, far more voters would be lost by letting the press turn Hagee into a huge deal. It’s much more publicity than Hagee deserves!
“He may be a friend of Israel, but what about Jews? Where does he think they end up in the after life?”
Why would his opinion on that issue matter?
..and what about LA RAZA ? Are they next..?
Not to say Hagee is not a complete nutcase, but God used Pharoah to do just that.
God uses all sorts of disgusting people.
The MSM needed to try and minimize the damage Wright did to Obama.
Hey, what is 20 years in a pew compared to a public endorsement?
What is MUGS?
McCain’s Uncle George Soros?
Do not hold your breath.
But stranger things have happened. McCain has been cash-poor and last I saw, was not raising the kind of money he needs to.
The question is: does he really convince anyone by dumping La Raza & Hagee that he's worthy of money and support?
My guess is no, which is why he'll go with Romney as a Veep choice. Romney raised money hand over fist, iirc.
Hagee isn’t the only religious fanatic saying nutty things about the Holocaust.
“An eminent rabbi who heads Israel’s third biggest political party sparked an uproar in Israel for saying that 6 million Jews perished in the Holocaust because they were reincarnations of sinners.
Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, leader of the Shas party, also declared that Prime Minister Ehud Barak has “no sense” because he is trying to make peace with the Palestinians, whom he called “snakes.”
Yosef was speaking in his weekly Saturday night sermon that is broadcast over the party’s radio stations and is beamed overseas by satellite.
He said the 6 million Holocaust victims “were reincarnations of the souls of sinners, people who transgressed and did all sorts of things that should not be done. They had been reincarnated in order to atone.””
Uh, no.
"Before abandoning his bid to become president, Mitt Romney put in at least $42.3 million of his own money, a big chunk of the $97 million he spent on the campaign." Boston Globe article
Well, its better to acknowledge a mistake than continue to explain it away. This is a tumor that had to be separated.
That Hagee is a complete fruitcake.
You can’t say asinine things like Hitler was doing God’s work. He also dumped over Catholics and then apologized recently. He would also be a liability regarding foreign policy. You can’t have endorsement from a Pastor who says US was created to destroy Nation of Islam. Then when you declare war on Iran or whoever, questions would arise if you are doing it for foreign policy reasons or religious reasons.
Our long Endorsement Nightmare is finally over!
Lesson for McCain, lunatic fruitcakes like this do more harm then good. Be who you are and you will win. Give in to cretins like this and you will lose.
Way to go, Johnnie - make a mountain out of a molehill.
LOL!
Pastor Hagee is a great man and the best friend Israel ever had.
BARF!!! I can’t stand him!!! He is a disgusting individual who is a disgrace to America! Have you heard what he says about Catholics???? Obviously you must not know.
One big difference between Hagee and Wright. McCain is not nor has he ever been a member of Hagee's church. On the other hand, Obama sat under Jerry's tutelage for 20 years, and called him his spiritual mentor and close friend.
Quite a bit of difference there.
While no news story on Reverend Wright would ever dare call him anything more than "controversial."
Might he accept the "endorsement of say Gene Robinson, gay leader of the Episcopal Church?
How about Rev. Al Sharpton, or Tom Cruise, leader of Scientology?
Whether or not McCain cozys up to more and more leftists will determine whether he has a ghost of a chance.
That didn’t take long. LOL!
