SAN ANGELO, Texas - A state appellate court has ruled that child welfare officials had no right to seize more than 400 children living at a polygamist sect's ranch.
The Third Court of Appeals in Austin ruled that the grounds for removing the children were "legally and factually insufficient" under Texas law. They did not immediately order the return of the children.
Child welfare officials removed the children on the grounds that the sect pushed underage girls into marriage and sex and trained boys to become future perpetrators.
The appellate court ruled the chaotic hearing held last month did not demonstrate the children were in any immediate danger, the only measure of taking children from their homes without court proceedings.
I would have, but I thought she was banned for life. I tried just now to include her and got:
Before you may post this message, the following must be corrected: Could not find anybody named 'murraymom'
I guess she is still banned. Nice crowd ya hang with BTW.
THere was a story here about one mother who was allowed to have some access to her children, and her children were really enjoying being in the baptist foster home, and they were getting to see a lot of sights and do a lot of fun things.
That story had a sad ending though, because somehow someone found out the kids were having fun, and that “someone” forced the foster home to ban the children from any more outings.
I think so too. Thanks :’)
“Me too. Was her name (fill in the blank)mom? I saw several with similar names and just assumed that they were the multiple personalities of murraymom.”
Yes. She has not been seen here on this thread. I am afraid to ping her because she threatened me with an exclamation mark. Ha! Where are they now?
Did you see the Ben Stein youtube video? Powerful!
“Here’s to “decent debate,” my FRiend.”
Same to you, and all Freepers.
God protect the women and children, no matter whose ‘hands’ they end up in.
Actually, it is posted on this thread, as a writ of mandemus.
But I lack the energy to go through 800 posts to find it.
;)
The pitchfork and torch mob is resorting to posting on dead threads about their unapproved appearance.
My reading of the ruling is that it applies to all the children, but I’m not a lawyer.
Perry is up to his earlopes in deep-stuff... the borders, the corridor, this fiasco, and his alliance to McCain. Perry can't punch his way out of paper bag, IMO.
All the same, glad Stein stepped up and called it what it is: Gestapo Tactics.
There a bunch of semi-anonymous people of unknown training and background making comments on an internet site.
I’m pretty sure they are not a grave threat to America.
I hope this has taught people a valuable lesson.
If CPS screwed up? How didn’t they screw up? When the gov’t rounds up little children, rips them away from their mothers, interrogates them, strip searches, probes, pokes, examines their private parts, and dumps them in a strange weird foreign foster home, the poor kids will say anything to make the abuse stop. “Anything you want, sir.” Is that justice?
“The State would like to destroy religion”
Isn’t that painting with a ‘broad brush’?
I think that was unsubstantiated, but rumored to be CPS gearing up for this eventual ruling.
LOL!
During the "child sex abuse/Satanic cult-day care center/recovered memories" hysteria of the eighties and nineties, a whole generation of "child sex abuse experts" were sued successfully, discredited, and forced from their professions for every sort of despicable and unethical behavior.
The worst of the worst were the "sex abuse validators," social workers and "licensed professonal counsellors" like these who had no relevant training or expertise yet in their own twisted sickness took pride in destroying innocent parents, mostly fathers, and tearing up families.
We have a couple like-minded posters right here on this thread.
Well, what if the original report was a conspiracy between a known hoaxer and an ex-FLDS mother who couldn't get the police to believe her, and who had written a book that was about to show up in the bookstores and needed some publicity?
I was called many different names and accused of promoting polygamy, child rape, molestation, etc. You name it. The one that really got to me though was a certain pro CPS pro gov’t raid FReeper who posted an article and then when I replied, she said, “Don’t post to me!” She also said, “Don’t ping me!” Ha! I got a kick out of her.
Sounds plausible ... if not probable.
I was thinking the same. The feds made the claim that Koresh was sexually molesting the children WITH NO EVIDENCE and the only purpose was to paint his as some sort of monster so no one would complain too much when they killed 80+ men women and children.
The FLDS has learned. Their buildings are made of stone and won’t burn so easily.
