When Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg stood at City Hall two years ago to announce that he had just filed suit against several gun shop owners, mainly in the South, it was in a certain fashion the capstone of a signature campaign. Mr. Bloomberg had already bashed the industry in several angry speeches, gone to Washington to pressure congressmen and lobbyists, and made his war against illegal guns a personal crusade.
Now, however, Mr. Bloomberg is likely to answer verbally and literally in person for his personal crusade. City officials said on Wednesday that he was virtually certain to take the witness stand next month at a landmark federal trial resulting from his suit.
As befits a court proceeding stemming from a deeply held conviction, Mr. Bloomberg will find himself confronting, in the defendant, a rather stubborn man of equally firm belief. His name is Jay Wallace, and he is an irascible outdoorsman who owns a sporting goods store in the Atlanta suburb of Smyrna, Ga. With his wife, Cecilia, Mr. Wallace, 51, arrived in New York City earlier this week in advance of the trial, which is to begin on Tuesday.
I believe that I care more about firearms getting into criminals hands than the mayor of New York City does, Mr. Wallace said on Wednesday at a pretrial conference at the Brooklyn federal courthouse, where the trial will be held. Im in the business. I know how my business is run.
The trial can be read in many ways: as gun victim versus gun seller, as city versus country, as red state versus blue state, and, none the least, as a version of David v. Goliath, with Mr. Wallace in the self-appointed slingshot role.

I think that somone else already tried to go with that and it went nowhere.
This is a common misperception - particularly in New York. If you accept the 2004 election as an indicator, then the following map
should show that most of the upstate regions were significantly Democrat as will as NYC. There are various shades of pink and light blue, and a few nearly completely balanced (white) but almost no solid red. What this map does not show is the population weighting, and that the reddest areas are the most lightly populated and the blue areas are much more heavily populated. There is a 3d map out there that does this, but I couldn't find it. If you look closely at the map then you see that even in upstate areas New York is overrun with socialists/democrats
There isn't anyone willing to dig out the pitchforks and torches, but something needs to be done.
Now would be a good time for folks around Atlanta to stop by Adventure Outdoors and add to your collection of firearms.
Not true. There is a map which breaks down the NY vote average by precinct - and it graphically demonstrates that it is indeed a rural/urban division. The blue component of the NY counties (upstate included) in your map actually are tightly concentrated within the cities. That a low-population county may appear bluish overlooks the fact that there is in fact an urban area (small, but outnumbering the rural population of the county). The bluer counties you show are occupied by the cities of Ithaca (liberal heaven), Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, and other distinctly left-leaning concentrations amidst a sea of red.
Both rural and urban areas upstate have lost population, while NYC has GAINED population since the mid 1980s. From a low of 7 Million in 1980, NYC now has a population of 8.4 million, and growing. The suburbs (especially Lawn Guyland) have grown more blue (although there is a good chance that McCain will carry Nassau and Suffolk counties, due to the racial insularity of many white Catholics and Jews in those counties), and are no longer a bulwark against the liberalism of NYC.
Actually, Boomberg is guilty of conspiracy to commit felonies in that he engineered and funded straw man purchases. He did it repeatedly and systematically which, I think, qualifies his actions under RICO.
If equal justice meant anything.....
I wish I could find the 3d population map. I think it would show that the bulk of the population even in upstate is dem, but the bulk of the area is rep. I’ll keep looking. I may have a reference to it someplace
I still do not know of any liberal dems in any of the areas I frequent. No family, HS chums, military peers etc. All are quite conservative. I think what happens is that oftimes there are no decent candidates to vote for, an hence, the dems stay firmly entrenched.
God Bless
Well, one person who _won’t_ be testifying is the private investigator who Bloomberg and his co-conspirators engaged to effect the illegal straw purchase at Adventure Outdoors, Tanya Nooner. She was murdered after the case was filed.

I lived in upstate for 5 years, and it was extremely liberal even then Almost everyone I knew was liberal. (of course I was living in Tompkins County)
You'll not that the population spikes are much darker blue than the surrounding areas
I’d love to debate this POS in an open forum. Heck, he can bring down the full weight of the UN and the Brady Bunch if he wants to.
How about a Yankee Conservative?
It’ll probably end up with the third choice happening.
I have family and friends in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Never seen a tripod mounted on a person firearm.
