Byrd Offers Weeping Tribute To Kennedy

(The Politico) Sen. Robert C. Byrd has offered perhaps the most emotional outpouring on the Senate floor in years, offering a weeping tribute to "his dear friend, Ted Kennedy."

His voice cracking, hands trembling, Byrd sat in his wheelchair and slowly read his tribute to Kennedy, who has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

"I want to take a moment to say how distraught and terribly shaken I am over the news of my dear friend, my dear, dear friend, Ted Kennedy," Byrd said. "Ted, Ted, my dear friend, I love you, and I miss you."

Byrd broke down even further, mentioning his late wife Erma, who died two years ago after 68 years of marriage to Byrd.

Byrd, 90, is the oldest and longest serving member of the Senate, and Kennedy, 76, is the second longest serving Democrat, and it's clear the men have an emotional and professional connection that dates back nearly five decades.

"I thank God for you, Ted," Byrd intoned.

Byrd took a long pause, and returned to Senate business, quickly asking for a quorum call.

They left something out of Byrd’s biography. Now what was that? Hmmm.

Byrd will outlive not only Teddy, but has outlived 15 US Presidents.

Not to mention all his fellow Ku Klux Klanmen.

His tribute was for the Byrds. Did he wash and iron his sheet for the occasion?

How many tears has he shed for Mary Jo Kopechne? Murdered by his dear friend Ted Kennedy.

I don’t know if I can stand one more second of this insane lovefest. The truth is he lived longer than he should have with the abuse he gave to his body. He’s a man in his 70’s...HE’S GOING TO GET SICK...We made these politicians Gods and I’m so, so, so sick of it.

Prayers for Kennedy and his soul. Wouldn’t wish what he has on anyone but bin ladin and his ilk.

That said, screw that utter POS Byrd.

Ted is a celebrity, so many in America relate on some level to him and may feel something regarding his situation.

I wish Mr. Kennedy a speedy recovery or if not to be a painless end.

As far as Byrd is concerned, well he’s probably served with Kennedy some 30 years.
They have history together for sure.

Byrd is the perfect argument for term limits.

Worth repeating.

It would seem that the One and Only Real God is in favor of term limits.

Byrd is the perfect argument for whomever runs against him.

If his opponent has any balls, he would run 30 seconds of that retarded old coot stammering and slobbering --nothing else.

Who does Byrd represent? State of the living dead?

I saw this play out. The guy appeared to be drunk, over medicated or just stroking out.

Yes, but he brought home the pork to West Virginia. For that, he’s an icon there. All the stammering and slobbering notwithstanding...

The purest of white sheets, kept pristine and unblemished by miscegenation mixing of colors in the wash: the Robert Byrd secret of longevity.

It's going to have to wait four years...he was just reelected two years ago. One of his primary campaigners - Barack Earl Obama.

A man hasn't lived until he partaken in the vast array of feminine fruit; all colors, shapes and nationalities.

No wonder Sheets is a wreck....he's kept to his own.
