Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on Friday is scheduled to meet with two Republican governors who have been prominently mentioned as potential running mates, according to Republicans familiar with Mr. McCain’s plan.
Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida, and Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, have both accepted invitations to meet with Mr. McCain at his home in Arizona, according to Republican familiars with the decision. One Republican said that Mitt Romney, a former rival of Mr. McCain for the presidential nomination — is also expected to visit him this weekend. Mr. Romney’s advisers declined to comment.

We don't live under a theocratic system. Since when does being a conservative Republican mandate religious uniformity?
To me religious belief is important only insofar as it informs political ideals. I would vote for a non-Christian if I felt that he was a decent person who respected the rule of law and the freedom of religious belief and would work hard to protect them. I feel confident that is the case with Mr. Romney.
I like Jindal the best of the three, but if he’s the pick it takes away McCain’s ability to attack B-HO for his inexperience, because Jindal also has very little.
It’s an especially important pick, considering McCain might serve only one term. This VP could very well be the GOP nominee in ‘12, so Mac better choose wisely.
Thankfully I haven’t seen that SOB Lindsay Graham’s name pop up yet.

Well, fair enough. So which traditional view or value would you say Obama embraces? Would we agree that he opposes murder of a human being over the age of 20 years? I think he probably does oppose that, and I think you agree.
So he is a conservative. He embraces that traditional value.
McCain does, too.
Another traditional view or value would be, in 1861, that slavery is permitted in the US. Since conservatism is absolute and timeless, then this traditional value would define it. I suspect neither McCain nor Obama would embrace that position. I suspect you would not, either.
This makes you a liberal, perhaps?
So . . . either conservatism is relative and is redefined by the times or it is absolute and timeless. And the bad news is, there is no “gray area”, because that would be relativistic. It either is absolute and timeless, or it is not.
The conclusion is, obviously, there are people more conservative than others. There are people more liberal than others. Conservatism is not absolute and timeless. It is relative.
McCain is more conservative than Obama.
