(If McCain really CAN "win without conservatives," then why do you care if I vote for him or not?)

Keep the names handy so we can see how they vote when McCain proposes amnesty legislation next year. My guess is that they’ll think that legislation is reasoned.

I am kinda shocked that Elizabeth Dole is on the letter. Damn shocked that Sen. Allard is not. He was very good on this last year.

I notice neither of mine on there (Gregg and Sununu).
Had to laugh today when I heard Glenn Beck mention that Larry Craig was at the NRA convention where Glenn was the keynote speaker and he had a hard time keeping the phrase “wide stance” out of his speech.

I am proud to be an Okie...especially since my two senators, Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn, have the fortitude to stand up for what’s right.

Funny how these politicians stand up when they think they may lose their jobs.

Now why would only 10 republicans sign this? Is McCain one of them?

We need to start calling senators again.
Craig also voted against the Cronyn amendment. His talk of resigning was all a farce - he was waiting to push for amnesty.

I’m surprised Sen. DeMint isn’t one of them.

Ten so far. I wouldn't be surprised to see more names added as the pressure increases.
I'd only be echoing other posters by saying that it might be a different story the next time around, i.e., 2009, when we get a pro-amnesty president regardless of which of the Tres Amigos is in office.

Sure got quiet in here. Where’s all the Juan McCain trolls at? You sure don’t see them coming out defending their boy’s conspicuous absence on this vote.

The bad news:
There were only 10 of them willing to put their names on the letter:
Great. NINETY Senators that refuse to defend the USA.
OK, maybe some were out of town and didn't get wind of the initiative.
I pray that's the excuse for some of the missing signatures.

Someone correct me on this, if I am wrong.
The letter is fine, but it’s just symbolism. Can’t one member of the Senate hold up a bill by himself? I don’t recall what it is called, but there is some sort of objection a single Senator can make on the floor that will gum up the works.
So, quit with the whiney protest letters and start throwing sand in the parliamentary gears.
