Prayer Thread for Sen. Ted Kennedy (prayers ONLY, God is your Moderator)
Vanity ^ | May 20, 2008 | GovernmentShrinker

Posted on 05/20/2008 11:48:45 AM PDT by GovernmentShrinker

Can we please have a civilized thread offering our prayers for Sen. Kennedy and his family? He has just been diagnosed with brain cancer (glioma) which has a very poor prognosis. The moderators have already been forced to pull at least FOUR threads on this topic due to uncivilized posters. If you feel the urge to post something unkind, don't.

MOD: Violation of decorum on this thread will be dealt with by immediate suspension. Thanks for your cooperation.

I am proud that when I first heard of the glioma diagnosis today, my first thought was “how sad for him and his family”. He is in the hands of some very competent Doctors and , most importantly, THE GREAT PHYSICIAN

Many images of Ted Kennedy show him on a mobile phone...

Perhaps there really is a connection between cell phone use and brain cancer.

:(

Having gone through chemo and radiation with my husband last year (not in his brain and cancer was killed), I can tell you his wife needs prayer. It’s terrible to see your companion suffer from chemo and my husband is still not over the effects. Radiation in the brain is also awful for the patient and the wife. I pray for peace and rest for them as they go through this terrible process.

Heavenly Father, in obedience to Your Son’s command, I pray for the health, welfare, comfort, and healing of Senator Ted Kennedy. Please bless him with all good things as he faces this devastating diagnosis; please comfort him, hold his family close to You, grant them strength and joy.

Please, according to Your Will, bless him with health. Restore him, I pray in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ, because of Christ’s salvation offered freely to all.

As much as we all disagree with Senator Kennedy, there are much more important things than politics.

This is a terrible diagnosis and another tragedy for teh Kennedy family.

Best wishes to the Senator for a speedy recovery and sympathies to him and his family.

“We need to show some class here...

...it is disheartening when freepers complain about the comments on the liberal blogs about the deaths of Heston and Falwell, and then I read some of the sme type of bile when a liberal icon comes to grief...”

Very well said. Prayers for him and his family.

The Declaration of Absolution, or Remission of Sins.

¶ To be made by the Priest alone, standing; the People still kneeling,

ALMIGHTY God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who desireth not the death of a sinner, but rather that he may turn from his wickedness and live...

(1928 Book of Common Prayer, from "The order for Daily Evening Prayer")

So should we all pray.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness and your recognition of your own possible reaction to the events that occurred when he was only in his thirties.

I believe his son also had his leg removed because of a malignant sarcoma at about the same time as his brothers' deaths. At that time survival from sarcoma of the bone was practically nonexistent.

So while in his thirties,he had a son with a deadly disease that required much treatment as well as regular visits to physicians to observe the progress of the disease and while happily the cancer did not recur, those five years of holding his breath and praying must have been awful. Running along with that he had lost four sibling, his father was incapacitated from strokes, his mother was in need of support, his sister was in a mental asylum and he had at least eleven nieces and nephews that were fatherless,he was the sole Kennedy male with many support roles to fulfill as son, father, and uncle.

So granted he drank far too much,he left a person to drown and in a drunken stupor, extricated himself and left. He also espoused a political position that I find difficult to swallow, nonetheless I look at his life, money and all,and know that I didn't walk in his shoes and if I had I have no idea of how I would have handled it,but I am grateful to God that I wasn't tested as he was.

I will be praying for him and for many who seem so full of vitriol that they may better understand what charity and mercy mean.

I pray for his healing, for his spiritual well-being, for rest and for his family and friends. He’s nearing the end of his life journey at 76 and I hope that he recognizes the need to be at-peace with God as he looks toward eternity.

It doesn't sound very good however, I do pray for a full recovery. I don't know much about what my aunt had but is sounds similar to what she had. I saw her in 1999 after chemo and radiation, she was bald and almost two years laster, she passed away. Last time I talked to my uncle, he was thinking about going back to work for NASA part-time (at Cape Canaveral, he worked on the electronics and avionics from Project Mercury to the Shuttle) because he "has a lot of time on his hands." He just turned 70. I know Teddy Kennedy is an adversary and we do not jive with his policies but we do need to show some class and remember that he is a fellow human being with family, friends and so on that needs a lot of prayer and sympathy at this trying time. There is a time to bury the hatchet for a while.

I often think of the prayer Katherine Hepburn said in African Queen.

“May God remember us for our strengths and not our weaknesses”.

I am sorry for his loved ones and my heart does go out to them. My prayers for them as well as Senator Kennedy.

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and in the hour of our death, Amen. Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of Hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy.
Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison.

I can not make judgment as to what is really in Ted Kennedy's heart.

I do agree with you that I hope he is right with God as he has tough times ahead for him.

BTW: I prayed a prayer for Ted during the Rush show.

I may despise his stances on abortion and see it as murder of a defenseless human but as a Christian I felt compelled to pray for his soul.
