Obama: Israel is a 'constant sore'
World Net Daily ^ | May 13 2008 | World Net Daily

Democratic presidential front-runner Barack Obama says Israel is a "constant wound" and a "constant sore" that infects "all of our foreign policy."

Obama, under fire for attracting praise and support for his presidential run from the terrorist group Hamas, spoke to Atlantic Monthly at length about his views of the Middle East.

Asked if he thought Israel represented a drag on America's reputation overseas, Obama said: "No, no, no. But what I think is that this constant wound, that this constant sore, does infect all of our foreign policy. The lack of a resolution to this problem provides an excuse for anti-American militant jihadists to engage in inexcusable actions, and so we have a national-security interest in solving this, and I also believe that Israel has a security interest in solving this because I believe that the status quo is unsustainable. I am absolutely convinced of that, and some of the tensions that might arise between me and some of the more hawkish elements in the Jewish community in the United States might stem from the fact that I’m not going to blindly adhere to whatever the most hawkish position is just because that’s the safest ground politically."

There is no way he's gonna be the nominee. It's only the middle of May. Hillary should be all over this.

Right. I don't think Obama's going to be able to hide his "CHANGES" and just platitude his way until November. Stuff like this will pop out. At this point it's looking like there's a better chance Hillary rather than McCain will take him to task. McCain looks like he wants to lose the election although even if he tries I don't think he will.

I’m not one to defend Obama, but this article was misleading. What Obama was talking about as being a “constant sore” was not the State of Israel but the Israeli-Arab-Palestinian crisis. That was my impression of the matter after reading what Obama actually said.

So let’s not be like the libs and distort what someone actually meant.

I don’t think I (or WND) took it out of context. To be spsecific, Obama was referring to Israeli settlements on land that Israel captured from the Arabs after the Arabs provoked the third war in less than 20 years. In other words, he thinks Israel is the problem, just as his sugar daddy George Soros thinks Israel is the problem.

H. Clinton does not want the worthless Dim nomination this time around. She just wants to be sure Obama loses. He is helping plenty.

She now want to sew up the 2012 nomination by having Obama flame out.

It's “The Emperor Has No Clothes” story in regard to his chances. It's obvious to everyone he has no chance of winning except in the few square inches of his grey matter and to his most ardent, hateful supporters.

What's beautiful is the possible destruction of the Dem party. Do the Dems give up the presidency in ‘08 just to keep Hillary from running? They're screwed either way.

Their best best is to run Hillary. She could win against McCain: who is a hero but is so politically dumb he's lame.

It's healthy to realize the trauma that has been brought upon ourselves. As Rush said on Friday, Hillary used to be the worst it got and now people are feeling sorry for her.

Obama, like many on the left, is deluded into thinking that once the "Palestinians" are given a state hatred in the Islamic world for both the U.S. and Israel will disspate. ...as will jihad movement. Of course nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, it'll just encourage that movement even more. Appeasement always does.

You can call the Jewish voting for 'Rats "tradition" but the more appropriate word is addiction. That's because these Jewish Dummies are doing something despite the fact they know it's harmful, they can't stop, and they in fact enjoy it and brag about how "good" it feels with their similar-minded friends.

First of all, American Jewish liberals are far more liberal than they are Jewish. Liberalism is their religion, not Judaism. Secondly, you'll find no small number of Israeli liberals who agree with Obama's assertion/delusion that once the "Palestinians" are given a state everything's going to be just hunky dory.

They would probably vote for Hitler if he was running with a "D" instead of an "N" after his name, and I am speaking as a Jewish voter. The National Jewish Democratic Council is one of the most disgusting organizations I have ever seen, and the Union for Reform Judaism comes across as MoveOn.org with Jewish holidays.

Of course, Barack Obama's church is pretty much the same thing, noting its ties with the Sabeel Ecuminical Liberation Theology Center. ("Where's Waldo Jesus?")

I’m surprised that the Dems think they can do that without bringing the wrath of their Jewish wing down on them

They know each other well enough. As Rush has pointed out, the secret is that liberal Jews are liberals first Jews second, just like feminazis are leftists first and women second. Same for liberal Blacks, homosexuals, etc. It all falls into place very elegantly if you apply the simple rule.

The fundamental question is: "What is the reason for oppression, poverty, and hatred in the Moslem countries?"

BHO: "Israeli actions."

GWB: "their leaders"
