Obama, under fire for attracting praise and support for his presidential run from the terrorist group Hamas, spoke to Atlantic Monthly at length about his views of the Middle East.
Asked if he thought Israel represented a drag on America's reputation overseas, Obama said: "No, no, no. But what I think is that this constant wound, that this constant sore, does infect all of our foreign policy. The lack of a resolution to this problem provides an excuse for anti-American militant jihadists to engage in inexcusable actions, and so we have a national-security interest in solving this, and I also believe that Israel has a security interest in solving this because I believe that the status quo is unsustainable. I am absolutely convinced of that, and some of the tensions that might arise between me and some of the more hawkish elements in the Jewish community in the United States might stem from the fact that I’m not going to blindly adhere to whatever the most hawkish position is just because that’s the safest ground politically."

It’s absurd, since he’s basically wrapped up the nomination, that we only now learn where he stands on these issues. And I’m afraid we’ll be learning more for months to come.

This is the liberal mindset on display: our support of Israel makes the Muslims world hate us.
This is nothing more than what was said by those after 9/11, blaming US foreign policy for the attacks.
This is the basis for all the arguments used by those who believe in appeasement. They think that if we would simply cut Israel off, peace would break out (after Israel is eliminated).
Sounds like he’s going to cut Israel loose. I’m surprised that the Dems think they can do that without bringing the wrath of their Jewish wing down on them. I guess they figure the Jewish voters will swallow anything.
Following his logic, then the destruction of Israel is the only answer for peace in the middle east.
It is pretty clear that Obama will stand by and watch the destruction of Israel. That’s assuming he doesn’t try to actively prevent Israel from defending itself.
His recent gaffe about "all 57 states" can be interpreted as a Freudian slip, where he was thinking about the 57 Moslem States in the world.
I know McCain's already trying to lose the election, but the only way Daffy Duck or Porky Pig could win is if McCain said something like he wanted to be their Vice-President.
Under Hussein Obama and his radical, vile wife, we will have “no” future nor will our children and grandchildren. Our entire existence as a free nation will be in jeopardy. Clueless Liberals and those they’ve brainwashed are destroying everything we hold dear. We are reliving Nazi Germany in the early 1930’s; I’m sure of it. As the saying goes, “those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” With Hussein Obama (IMO, a closet Muslim radical) and the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Kerry, Schumer, Murtha, and the rest of the Liberal human waste in DC and elsewhere, we’re doomed. Clueless American voters just haven’t figured that out yet; that day is fast approaching.
