for the fans who wanted Gary and Camden on the list (I thought Youngstown and Dayton should have been there)
from the article:
“We looked at only the 150 largest metropolitan areas, which meant a minimum population of 371,000.”
I’m sure this is why Gary, Camden, Dayton, Youngstown, and others were left off.
Gary only has a population of about 100k, so its too small to make the list. However, since it is in the Chicago metro area, you can consider it included there.
You're right about that. Weasther preferences are nearly entirely subjective.
So what is the problem with Modesto? Just because Scott Peterson lived there?
I live in the deep south atm and am aching to see something new.
I am not happy overall in the south.
I kinda want to get away from the whole east coast also. I have been an east coaster my whole life and I want to see new things. Life is short.
I meant that there are a few Detroit City Council members who seem to be trying to sort out the mess that is there and seem to be doing the right things at this very dreary time in the City's history. There are at least three who come to mind in this regard.
There are at least two who subscribe to the ‘Business as usual’ faction and who are supporting Kwame and acting like idiots in the process.
So where’s the list of the other 90?
LOL - I guess it depends on what side of the bed the Pollsters get up on. Check this link out - It ranks Charlotte as the BEST place to live in. Two ranking, two days!

P.S. I don’t expect a similar reversal for Detroit.
“Besides all of the crap this poll cites, it appears we have a full blown Real Estate Depression here as well.”
You got that right. In my part of the liberal cespool called Michigan, homes selling for $30,000 or less and homes in the above $400,000 range are selling. The homes between are glutting the market and not selling.
That tells me one thing - the middle class jobs are dead in this socialist hellhole. The idiot liberals wanted a female communist in the governor’s chair and they got it.
No jobs, businesses leaving by truck loads and productive citizens fleeing by the hundreds of thousands.
This state will look like Haiti in a few more years. Meanwhile, the criminal politicians, crooked businesses and thieving bureaucrats will strip mine this state of all cash.
Not here in Bloomfield Hills. My neighbors home has been empty for over three years. It started on the market at $699,000 and has been recently listed for about $375,000 and still no takers. This is a 4200 Sq Ft., three bedroom, four and 1/2 bath, two car garage, decks, fireplaces, etc. home on the 18th fairway of a private Golf Course with fabulous views of the fairway and lake.
It is like you almost cannot give these things away!
The Court of Political Correctness is convening to 'TRY YOUR CASE!'LOL..
(Maybe Kwame will be my cell-mate. Oh wait, only non-PC types actually go to jail. Actual Felons like Kwame go to Disneyland!)
Yes.
Actually, any of the Great Lake states might offer you the change you're looking for.
Agreed, Grellis.
Although about now I am just about ready to pack up and move to a sunnier and warmer clime, (I live in the UP and it just DOES NOT want to warm up) I have lived other places, and (at least where I live, in MI) you pretty much can’t beat what we have here— our town is surrounded by lakes and forest w/in 5 mins., it’s a safe place, and when you need a hand, there is always someone there to step up.
Obviously sports were not factored in on this “miserable” list. Two of Detroit’s teams (Pistons and Red Wings) are in the final 4 teams left. I think that should account for something...at least it allows people to get away from the every day problems for a couple hours each day.
The Lansing Lugnuts are great fun to watch. We're lucky to have a minor league team here. The stadium is beautiful.
