Schwarzenegger calls for 'rebranding' GOP
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | May 17, 2008 | Carla Marinucci

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger created shock and awe in the Republican Party when he warned years ago that the GOP was in danger of "dying at the box office" by failing to make the sale to a wide swath of voters. And with the presidential election looming, the Republican governor of the nation's most populous state - a decidedly blue state - has now found a chorus of agreement. The Republican "brand" - thanks to an unpopular president, a war, gas prices, foreclosures and deficit - has become such damaged goods that GOP Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia groused last week that "if we were dog food, they would take us off the shelf." The answer for GOP presidential candidate John McCain: take a page out of the Schwarzenegger playbook and sell a product that is "counter" to the current GOP brand on issues like global warming, spending, and even immigration reform.

We elected this buffoon instead of McClintock, so we reap what we have sown.

What they going to do, haul out the old “Progressive” or “Bullmoose” labels?

Sorry, those have been pretty much pre-empted and co-opted by the Democraticans.

Democrat and Democrat-lite just does not cut it.

...let’s rebrand the current GOP with a new name more reflective of its form of leadership...

How about just call them out for what they are: Marxists Lite. At its current pace, the GOP will rebrand itself into the dustbin of history soon enough.

The GOP’s problem is not a message or a branding problem. It is their RECORD. They had the WH and Congressional majorities from 2000-2006 and they have darn little to hang their hat on, let alone give people a reason to vote for them in 2008.

Hey, how come you didn’t sound a barf alert for this nauseating story?

Some titles speak for themselves.

God, stop harping on Schwarzenegger. This site is getting pathetic.

LEAVE ARNIE ALONE!

Have you considered that you may not understand the concept of an Internet forum?

Those were mostly Republican nominees who ruled for gay marriage in California. These are Rino’s like Souter and Stevens. McCain is also a Rino. Our problem is with Rino’s. How does that ruling help him? He probably approves of it anyway.

More calls to move away from the conservatives? They crossed that bridge, and burned it.

"God, stop harping on Schwarzenegger. This site is getting pathetic."

Hay hotlips! You ain't seen nothin yet!! Wait till after McMistake gits elected and then Governor Poisoner takes over from Schwartzenfrauder!!!

Then you're really gonna think this site's pathetic because the harping will finally git down to actual political action including FReepin in the danged streets like we used to do around the turn of the century!!!

We don't need no steenkin "Rebranding!" What we need is a revival of righteous committed conservatism based on platforms in place at the turn of the century and some danged actual leadership with statesmen/women instead of politicians like Steve Poisoner, current insurance commisar who wants to be goobernatorial!!!

Right now we're all suffering a little from the "oh (BLEEP!) factor from Schwartzenstupifier, McMistake and State supreme court chief justice George (a Wilson mistake) that has just about sucked all the oxygen out of conservatism in the Repellican Party!!!

It'll be back in spades in a couple of years, you just sit there and watch, sweetie pie!!! (Oh! I almost forgot... Schwartzenrenegger sucks peripheral canal water!!!)

"I have no party. I hope McCain wins. But, I will not vote for him. Can’t do it."

Hey! It's great to have stumbled on this reply where you finally are beginning to rejoin me and others, in leaving the political expediency movement in the Repellican Party.

I must say I am pleased and will be listening to you tomorrow on KSFO in San Francisco, every chance I get!!!

I don’t care where the GOP moves. Conservatives should vote for conservatives, and not get dirtied by parties. My decades of voting a straight Republican ticket are over for good.

He turned out to be the WORST Governor. He hurt the already beaten down GOP in CA more than anyone ever thought possible.

Shame on him. He should shut the hell up and go to his Hollywood life.

Based on economic problems...he just might be recalled there in California...if the Democrats had any will power left at all. But it appears that they want him to run the state as far into the ground as possible...to point the finger later.
