Sen. Kennedy falls ill; taken to Boston hospital by helicopter
Cape Cod On Line ^ | May 17, 2008

HYANNIS -- U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy was rushed by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital this morning after falling ill at the Kennedy compound in Hyannisport.

Hyannis fire responded to the compound after a call was made around 8:30 a.m. It's unclear what Kennedy's medical condition is, but after he spent almost two hours in the emergency room a decision was made to transfer him to Mass General Hospital in Boston.

Kennedy, 76, was placed on a stretcher and wheeled out to the MedFlight helicopter around 10:15 a.m. where it took off from Barnstable Municipal Airport.

The Kennedy family is preparing to host the annual Best Buddies Challenge event in Hyannisport this afternoon, which is a fund-raiser for the organization. Best Buddies was founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver and helps people with intellectual disabilities.

Hundreds are expected to participate in the event, which kicked off this morning with a 100-mile bicycle ride from the Kennedy Library in Boston to Hyannisport.

A concert at the Kennedy compound is scheduled for tonight.

Kennedy has represented Massachusetts in the United States Senate for forty-three years.

He was elected in 1962 to finish the final two years of the Senate term of his brother, Senator John F. Kennedy, who was elected president in 1960.

Since then, Kennedy has been re-elected to seven full terms, and is now the second most senior member of the Senate.

The Kennedy family seems destined to grief and tragedy, a sad tale.

Good heavens, give it a rest with the Kennedy myth already. All human beings ever born and who ever will be born are destined for grief and tragedy. We are all going to die. Our loved ones are all going to die. Every living thing dies. Even planets and stars die eventually.

The Kennedys are a very, very large family. They are also in the public eye, so we hear about their family problems. A large family plus high public profile makes it seem as though they have more than their share of tragedy. Ted Kennedy is an elderly man who has led a life filled with alcohol abuse and other excesses. That he should now be experiencing health problems is not unusual in any way whatsoever.

Why do you doubt that he was bipartisan? If John McCain - a Republican, I’m told - went with him on McCain-Kennedy, they are both, ipso facto, bipartisan.

I’m surprised they made him wait for two hours at the emergency room like us common folk. I would have thought they would have gotten him in there right away. I feel sorry for anyone who has had to wait in the ER for over two hours and still not get taken, especially after having a stroke.

Prayers for Ted and family.

Agreed. Notwithstanding his political beliefs, he is a child of God. Jesus died for all.

ROFLMAO. It didn't meet Jim's standards.

No, his comment was on another thread that got yanked in its entirety. We're trying to keep this thread up. I've basically wasted a good hour on a Saturday. So do us all a favor and give it a rest, or else I will just pull the thread and go get some lunch.

It ain't censorship when a private website upholds its own basic standards. This isn't the time or place for this stuff.

I know you're busy so you don't need to respond, only if the mood hits you, but on another thread someone said respect his humanity and I made an innocent comment about where was his humanity when it came to abortions and my comment was pulled.

It’s simple humanity and civilized behavior. The mans dying. He has family. We should remember how angry we all were with the trash on the left dancing on the graves of Nixon and Reagan. WE’RE better then that.

WASHINGTON—US President George Bush has turned back the clock by a matter of years the US efforts to stem the spread of nuclear weapons and has contributed through his polices toward making the world a more dangerous place, said Massachussetts Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy in an interview at a non proliferation conference in the US capitol.

Relax. In your case the Mod probably missed a word in the rush to keep up. Cut The Mod some slack and don’t take it personally.

YES, IT IS CENSORSHIP. THAT IS THE RIGHT WORD TO CALL IT. THE EXCUSE FOR THE CENSORSHIP IS JIM’s Standard.

“Censorship is the suppression of speech or deletion of communicative material which may be considered objectionable, harmful or sensitive, as determined by a censor.”

In the case of bin laden, I would probably pray that he would have found a way to accept Jesus Christ as God’s son somehow or someway. Pray for his conversion. That is a lot to ask, but look what Christ has done for all of us. For this reason we should pray for the reconciliation to God of all sinners, including the one we see when we look in the mirror. If bin laden ended up dead right after 9-11, I would have been there to throw gasoline on his corpse and light a match. Time has gone by and I won’t forget or be complacent in my wariness of muslims. However, I beleive that it is the nature of Christians to forgive and hope that others gain the salvation we are promised.
