HYANNIS -- U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy was rushed by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital this morning after falling ill at the Kennedy compound in Hyannisport.
Hyannis fire responded to the compound after a call was made around 8:30 a.m. It's unclear what Kennedy's medical condition is, but after he spent almost two hours in the emergency room a decision was made to transfer him to Mass General Hospital in Boston.
Kennedy, 76, was placed on a stretcher and wheeled out to the MedFlight helicopter around 10:15 a.m. where it took off from Barnstable Municipal Airport.
The Kennedy family is preparing to host the annual Best Buddies Challenge event in Hyannisport this afternoon, which is a fund-raiser for the organization. Best Buddies was founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver and helps people with intellectual disabilities.
Hundreds are expected to participate in the event, which kicked off this morning with a 100-mile bicycle ride from the Kennedy Library in Boston to Hyannisport.
A concert at the Kennedy compound is scheduled for tonight.
Kennedy has represented Massachusetts in the United States Senate for forty-three years.
He was elected in 1962 to finish the final two years of the Senate term of his brother, Senator John F. Kennedy, who was elected president in 1960.
Since then, Kennedy has been re-elected to seven full terms, and is now the second most senior member of the Senate.
Mod Note: We're watching this thread and are more than happy to hand out suspensions
Will you get over it? I don’t have time to go back and review. Don’t ping me again - it’s all I can do to keep up with this thread.
Surely he/she wouldn't call me that....surely.
It gets pretty old getting kicked in the teeth
time after time

“Just because certain sins get a pass with us doesnt mean they get a pass with God.”
You are too cool for saying that. Exactly what I was thinking. I also beleive that even the worst person on earth can make amends with God and his soul before death. We have to hope for conversion and reconciliation for all. If we don’t, who will pray for us?
Did anyone think that they could have waited hours before calling 911. My prayers go out to the family of Mary Jo.
Nice reminder. Thanks.
For goodness sakes FReepers. Could you at least be respectful to Jim Robinson and to FR?
Turn abouts is not fair play. Just because the Dems would demonize our heroes, doesn’t mean we should follow suit. We could legitimately point out many wrongs, but I think that is different than the kind of demonization the left embarks upon for sport. We should operate with a certain level of class. It’s the right thing to do.
I am blown away by the censorship I am seeing on this board.
Just a philosophical question.
What would you say if Bin Laden was rushed to the hospital after a stroke?
Not equating Ted Kennedy to Bin Laden.
But how many people does a person have to kill before someone is allowed to mention that the person killed another.
The censorship on this site is frightening.
May he recover. When he does, we will do battle again.
I will not be so kind to Castro. That will be celebratory thread. The same for others who are genuinely evil.
As an aside, I stopped by DU to see what they were saying. Turns out that they are hardly talking about it.
The link is down the page a bit and only had 60 posts. I was kind of surprised since he's there hero and all.
This happened in October of last year. . .not today.
You could hear crickets chirping on my end. Ain't helping my hypertension, though. I think I'll go cut the grass now.
The decision on the eternal destination of his soul rests with Almighty God. Although it would have been out of character for Edward Moore Kennedy, he may very well have undergone an epiphany, ala the good thief crucifed next to Christ, prior to being stricken and don’t forget the parable of the vineyard workers who showed up late and got paid the same as those who worked all day. Then again he may not have. We may never know.
Yes I know, all the local stations are running the story as well, however, they just keep repeating what we already know, there are no new updates, they just keep repeating that kennedy had “stroke like symptoms” and right now he is still being “evaluated”. No word of an upcoming press conference by doctors or family.
Maybe, after all this, Teddy will rethink his stand on socialized medicine.
(CBS/AP)2003 In one of the most pointed Democratic denunciations of the war in Iraq yet, Sen. Edward Kennedy on Thursday called the Bush administrations case for going to war a fraud made up in Texas to give Republicans a political boost.
(JUST MONTHS INTO THE WAR, THIS IS WHO REPUBLICANS CALL THEIR FRIEND, NO TELLING HOW MANY WAR DEATHS THIS CREATED)
